As the Project Coordinator for WikiClub Tech, a key focus has been smoothing the path for technically-minded students entering the Wikimedia ecosystem. We initiated the ""Road to Wiki"" program specifically to address the challenges newcomers face.

My role involved designing and implementing this program with the newcomer experience as the central theme. Instead of just one-off events, we created a structured pathway including: introductory workshops covering Wikimedia basics and the 'why' of open knowledge; hands-on sessions focused on skills relevant to IIIT H students (like basic editing, Wikidata fundamentals, or contributing to technical documentation on platforms like MediaWiki); and importantly, fostering a peer-to-peer learning environment within the club where experienced members mentor new ones. We developed beginner-friendly guides and checklists hosted internally to support their initial contributions. The emphasis was always on making the first steps practical, welcoming, and clearly linked to the impact of their contribution.
