More to learn

[edit]

Further details about what I would like to learn.

One of the key skills I want to learn is how to contribute more effectively to the Wikimedia organisation. Specifically, I aim to improve my ability to connect with peers, build meaningful relationships, and establish new connections within the community.

Additionally, I want to explore and understand the tools and techniques that experienced Wikimedians use. Learning these would help me better navigate tasks and contribute to projects with greater efficiency and impact.

I’m particularly interested in discovering how to initiate and manage missions or programmes independently, leveraging Wikimedia’s resources and support. By learning these aspects, I hope to deepen my involvement and make a more significant contribution to the Wikimedia movement.

Stories about sharing

[edit]

Interesting stories about applying the skills I want to share.

Over the past three years, I’ve gained valuable experience in volunteering management and organisational leadership. My journey began in college when I took the initiative to lead a group in a club. This opportunity introduced me to the fundamentals of event organisation, team leadership, and tackling on-ground challenges.

Currently, I’m actively involved in managing three diverse communities: Google Developer Groups, TensorFlow User Groups, and a Wiki Club that focuses on technical advancements. These roles have helped me develop skills like project initiation, resolving on-ground issues, handling diverse audiences, and effective time management.

Key Experience: Mentoring a Group During Exams Recently, I mentored a group of 9-10 people in the Wiki Club, where we worked on resolving technical bugs. This experience was particularly demanding as it coincided with my semester exams. Managing both responsibilities required careful planning and effective use of my time. I identified 2-3-day gaps between my exams and used that time to organise mentoring calls. As many participants were beginners, I ensured the guidance was clear and step-by-step to help them overcome the learning curve. Despite the challenges, I successfully guided the group to complete their tasks by January 24th, all while maintaining focus and enthusiasm.
