Activities and lessons learned[edit]

Activities[edit]

Provide a detailed list of activities performed to complete this project, descriptions of these activities, and the amount of time spent on each activity. This section should also include a list of participants, or a link to pictures, blog posts, or videos from the project or event.

We have contacted and paid the annual fees to an industry association providing legal services to NGOs at a beneficial price. They are helping us write up statutes and bylaws according in accordance with the Belgian legislation.

We have also had several mailing list and real-life discussions about the statutes. We have opened a new "call for founding memembers", as in order to found a chapter a founding assembly must approved the statutes and bylaws, which can then be registered and published. The remainig actions outlined in the grant (i.e. opening a bank account, renting a PO box, organising a founding event) can only be done after the organisation has been founded.

Lessons learned[edit]

What lessons were learned that may help others succeed in similar projects, or that may change the way you are doing this project?
What went well, or is going well?
  • The NGO Association's legal sevice team has really helped us get our legal documents in order for a minimal fee (100 Euro yearly membership). We could definitely recommend each future or smaller chapter to look for such an option, as it really provides great legal services otherwise only accessible to large organisations or at a high price.
  • We have a clear idea about the next stepts that have to follow and know exactly how to get them done.
What did not go well, or is not going well?

The legal documents took much longer to prepare/set-up than expected. As this is a prerequisite for the next steps, we're expecting to have to "rush" toward the end of the year. Nonetheless, the grant goal remains feasible.
