Overview
[edit]What is the main objective of your proposal?
- This is the project to find out the incomplete pages and unuploaded books of Nationalised books of Tamilnadu in libraries, few GLAM activities at Chennai metropolitan city and workshops in 6 cities of TamilNadu.
What are the main challenges you are trying to solve and your proposed solution?
- Tamil Nadu government funded more than ₹12 crores to release books under public domain. In the year 2016, Tamil Wikimedians uploaded those 2217 books in Commons. After the five years of contribution at Tamil Wikisource, we found that in 400 books some pages are not found, some pages should be rescaned, few books are fully rescanned. Then we concluded that we should search in the city libraries. thus we are going to solve this multiple issues of the eminent Tamil books for Tamil Wikisource.
Please describe the main activities that will be developing to achieve your objective.
- Fetching incomplete pages of the 400 books and unuploaded books of Nationalised books of Tamilnadu nearly 100 books. The relavant categories are being populated.
- Its challenge: According to the field study shows that most of the libraries are following 'open access system' and running with less book keepers. So, usally readers misplaced books in unsorted shelves. So finding books in one library is not possible. we have to search in different areas and towns.
- Wikimedia Outreaches at ChennaiPy, FSFTN, vglug at Viluppuram and the need of expansion of the existing python3 codes for Tamil Wikisource and also the need of Android developers for Commons:Spell4Wiki project.
- Six audio books from the college students like the Tamil audio books available at Commons.
- Six Palm leaf manipulations: examples: The compilation at Commons and its ancient Tamil poetry from Ciṟupañcamūlam.
- 30 Screencasts for wikisource to ease newbies and intermidiate contributors for Linux usage, pdf manipulations.
- Partnerships will be appear with two private libraries.
- Tie up with TamilNadu state’s ‘Kanith Thamizl Peravai’ of 20 selected colleges (around 200 Tamil computing college clubs] exists in TamilNadu) for continuous online college workshops like விக்கிமூலம்:கல்லுரிகளுக்கான இணையவழிப் பயிலரங்கு-1
