Part 1: Understanding your work
[edit]Per the recent update on the Wikimedia Foundation Affiliates Strategy process, Wikimedia Affiliates that are General Support Fund grantees will fulfill their affiliate reporting requirements through their final or yearly grantee report.
If you are a Wikimedia Affiliate, you will use this form for your affiliate reporting and to address the affiliate health criteria. You do not need to submit a separate report to AffCom. Follow the guidance in the green boxes to report on how you met the corresponding affiliate health criteria.
If you are not a Wikimedia Affiliate, aligning your responses with the affiliate criteria is optional and not required.
1. Please share to what extent your programs, approaches, and strategies contributed to addressing the challenges you shared in your proposal. If they did not contribute as you believed they would, please share what obstacles you faced and what, if anything, you learned from them? (required)
For affiliates, use this space (Question 1.) to address Affiliate Health Criterion 1.1 (Goal delivery). Describe how you actively delivered on mission goals, e.g. content creation.
This year we've established a transition period for our strategic plans. First our 2019-2024 strategic plan was evaluated well into 2025, with a community health survey targeting stakeholders, members and Catalan wikimedians in general. With our board elections taking place in October 2025, annual meeting and general assembly in November and so on. The brand new board will elaborate on a much simpler strategic plan for 2026-2030 period. Contents, Community and Projects will be the main foundations. For this 2025 we addressed several key topics with a broader view as many projects could not be run by the only and selected contractor which started in late 2024 and departed in July 2025. Other projects created by volunteer members could not be matched in terms of discourse, abilities and knowledge on key questions by this contractor. Only the "Communication" area was 100% covered in the terms we established, mainly because the contractor was a communications specialist. We learned several key points. We have tried hiring Wikimedians and non-Wikimedians and for our size and community standards we should really keep looking for Wikimedians first. The learning curve for non-Wikimedians is too slow in a volunteer driven group like Amical, requiring too much attention and continuous evaluation by board members in lieu of working on strategic projects. Although signaling key challenges and projects they were mostly unattended and we relied on ourself as volunteers. Thanks to that we could complete one of our strategic challenges of 2025 "Promote a project every quarter dedicated to creating women's article" for example.
2. Is there a plan to build on the key successes you had? If yes, please describe the plan and if no, please share the limitations to do so. For instance, did the activities lead to any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future? (required)
The new board is building an activities plan for this current 2026 based in these past 2 years projects. In general we see that is OK to relay on volunteers to promote and lead projects. Staff and contractors should focus on helping them achieve their goals. Providing all the resources, comms, and support for doing so.
3. Please provide a link to reports that detail the activities that took place in the last year. This can include an annual report, Meta pages, and websites. If there are no links available, briefly describe the implemented activities and programs below or upload any files. (required)
For affiliates, use this space (Question 3.) to address Affiliate Health Criteria 2.1 (Affiliate health & resilience), 4.1 (Internal engagement), 4.2 (Community connection), and 4.3 (Partnerships and collaboration):
- Describe your activities engaging new users, new members for your decision-making body(ies), and developing leaders and organizers (2.1).
- Describe your activities creating or hosting spaces to encourage greater collaboration and engagement among your members (4.1).
- Describe how you engage with the contributing community that you serve and/or support (4.2).
- Describe your partnerships with other affiliates or with non-Wikimedia entities (4.3).
We are focused on gaining new members through engaging them in online contests, wiki takes, editathons and so on. Is in these spaces where Wikipedians see our and their own potential in working together with Amical or inside Amical. Many offer themselves for internal work and not only wikiprojects. We are also transparent on our capabilities and resources so volunteers can better asses their focus. We've also seen an increasing interest in "punts d'edició" (physical and recurring events for editing Wikipedia). With one taking place in Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), another one on-demand in our local community center (and office) Casa Orlandai in Barcelona, also close to the city, in Hospitalet de Llobregat, a volunteer working group consolidated their "punt d'edició" and started a monthly section (like a podcast) in the local radio, and the last one opened in October in the city of València with our friend at Museu Etnogràfic de València (ETNO). In general these are a great example of volunteers, helped by Amical, and critical stakeholders, working together, and each one in their own way. For engaging our community of editors we support all of the online contests taking place in ca.wiki and sisters projects, providing communications support, assessment, prizes and resources in order for them to success. Centralizing our own agenda and ca.wiki agenda in Viquipèdia:Trobades is key to correctly engage the community as a whole. We also kept communicating with our close friends in Wikimedia Basque User Group and Wikimedia España, participated together in the call of Wikimedia Estonia for their nation's challenge. We also kept organizing the Asian Month and Antartida&Oceania month. In 2025 we signed with Congrés de Cultura Catalana a partnership agreement for working together in a list of a "1000 articles of the Catalan culture that every Wikipedia should have". We kept working in our Bibliowikis projectwith #1Lib1Ref and Museu Marítim of Barcelona in which we will hold our 25th anniversary gala. Please refer to our monthly reporting on Meta to have a full and broad view of our projects, collaborations, meetings, etc. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Amical_Wikimedia_reports_(2025)
4. Are you interested in sharing what you achieved or learned this year with the wider community through different peer learning programs (e.g. Let's Connect program, Diff)? (optional)
In 2025 I've registered myself in Let's Connect (Lluís). We are also very interested in the upcoming Wikimania in Paris and we are looking to share some our projects in posters or lightning talks. We are always thrilled to explain what we are doing to the outside world but also in our own Wikimedia ecosystem. Definitely looking up to someday post in Diff blog about our experiences. This year Ester shared about dones i salut initiative [1]
5. Did you collect feedback from your community or target groups on how the activities implemented impacted them? If yes, please attach/provide information on the results (e.g. community surveys, stories, impact booklets/reports, interviews with partner institutions, etc). Did you collect other impact-specific data? (required)
For affiliates, the response to Question 5. also partially addresses Affiliate Health Criteria 4.1 (Internal Engagement), 4.2 (Community Connection), or 4.3 (Partnerships & collaboration), where applicable.
In 2024 we surveyed our members and community, we shared the results in the 2024 annual meeting (November). This 2025 we didn't conduct a specific survey. In general, thru specific interviews and meetings, we've received good feedback ranging from "keep going" to others like "improve the technicalities of Wikipedia" such as editing, appearance, tools and gadgets. This last one, about the technicalities, is surpassing by far our capabilities to respond and in some way even to asses it. We've also got very positive feedback from our partners in "Aliança per la presència digital del català" which musters our appearance and projection over key areas/institutions in our regional ecosystem (ie. becoming a cornerstone group in our own country when thinking about Internet, language and culture).
6. During the fund period, did your efforts do any of the following? (required):
For affiliates, the response to Question 6. also partially addresses Affiliate Health Criterion 2.2 (Diversity balance).
- 6.1 Bring in participants from the following groups: women, LGBTQ+ groups, young people, speakers of minority languages
- 6.2 Develop content about the following underrepresented topics or groups of people: women, indigenous groups, LGBTQ+ groups, speakers of minority languages, underrepresented geographical regions (ESEAP, LATAM, SSA, MENA, SA)
- 6.3 Support the retention of: Editors, Organizers, Partnerships, Wikimedians in Residence positions
7. What, if any, effective tactics or approaches can you share that worked well when dealing with the programs under points 6.1-6.3 that you selected? (optional)
- Establishing the "local edition points" which can be adapted and transformed by the local community. With involvement of local allies such as libraries, museums and community centers.
- Making sure our voice is heard in the Media and social networks, by promoting our contests, specially on improving the presence of women, which gets us important headlines in the Media and over key segments of our society. Projecting ourselves as a diverse and action-driven group who continuously cares and looks forward to "close the gap" when talking about the presence of women in Catalan Wikipedia articles. "We need you for a more equal Wikipedia"
- Linking together the growing activism in favor of the Catalan language with an "act of responsibility/activism" towards Wikipedia.(ie. "do you care about the future of your language? Edit Wikipedia and keep it alive". "Give back for all those years Wikipedia served you, give back by editing now.").
8. If you developed partnerships, which of the following factors most helped you to build partnerships? Please pick a MAXIMUM of the three most relevant factors (optional):
Board members’ outreach, Volunteers from our communities, Partners proactive interest
Part 2: Metrics
[edit]| Metrics name | Target | Result | Comments and tools used |
|---|---|---|---|
| Number of all participants | 350 | 1042 | Overall we are very successful with our activities. Everybody, specially EDU & GLAM institutions, are very interested in working together with us. Our ranks are filled with volunteers who give away many many hours, not only in Catalonia but also in Southern France (Catalunya del Nord), Andorra, Land of Valencia (País Valencià). Balearic Islands (Illes Balears) and so on. In general it's hard to manage all the incoming petitions for activities and we have to ration our capabilities to prevent over-extending. Some projects have built-in metrics like dashboard, others use locally run bots for contests. |
| Number of all editors | 300 | 800 | We manually checked all the new users to see if they continue to edit a month later. |
| Number of new editors | 70 | 334 | |
| Number of retained editors | 7 | 10 | |
| Number of all organizers | 15 | 92 | Some organizers are super-organizers, like every week they do one or two activities. Some are recurring like podcasts, editing points, workshops, etc. Some of our new organizers are non-Wikimedians who want to do some kind of activities in their area. |
| Number of new organizers | 2 | 5 |

Part 3: Skill Development / Capacity Building
[edit]12. Reflecting on your programmatic (external) and organizational (internal) work, did your grant support you to undergo any skill development that made a difference to your success? If yes, what skill was developed, and how did it lead to success? (e.g. received coaching on public speaking, attended training on nonviolent communication, hosted professional development conversations on leadership, learned and used a new tool for project management, etc.)? Can you share any materials? (required)
For affiliates, use this space (Question 12.) to address Affiliate Health Criteria 2.2 (Diversity balance) and 3.1 (Diverse, Skilled, and Accountable Leadership):
- Describe actions taken to prioritize gender balance in affiliate leadership, as well as any areas of diversity relevant to your affiliate's context (2.2).
- Describe the management, financial, or other leadership skills of your affiliate leaders. If you have a succession plan, please include it here (3.1).
- Describe any training or skill development (as outlined in the question above) (3.1).
- Incorporate into the annual report a disclosure of conflict of interests (if any) from the leadership (3.1).
In ca.wiki wikiproject page for Wikiwoman (bringing in one single spot Viquidones, Wikimujeres, ViquidonesUPF, Viquibarrina and others) we track the members of Amical who are self-identified as a woman (last column) [2] Every quarter there is an initiative to reduce the gender gap, it cannot by considered monthly only because there is some vacations in July and August. We also keep doing all the BBC Woman list, Forbes woman list (this year we organized on-wiki contests). Bringing in out EDU and GLAM partners like MNAC (Museu Nacional d'Art), Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. This year also did wikiprojects on the women who were called "witches" as Catalan government presented an open-source portal with the judicial proceedings, history, etc. We also do contests for Asian Month, and locals for Oceania, Brasil and South Sudan. Also Amical's board is keeping, now for a few years in a row, a 50/50 representation. We continue to apply our own "Code of Conduct" for events, having one or two people as "reference" (with green lanyards) to deactivate and deal with any issues regarding harassment. For skill development we are trying to generate spaces where there can be some level of skill-share, mostly on technicalities like Wikidata. We has some sessions in our Viquitrobada (annual meeting). The last board finished it's two year period in August 2025. Our current board (November 2025 onward) includes the same chair as before and we brought in several profiles with experience in finance and management positions. In November we launched again the search for a contractor in a similar but a bit broader role. As a result Lluís is right now the contractor as he was no longer the treasurer since August (August to November was interim until elections were held). Definitely we need to look more towards ourselves and plan for some capacity building for our own volunteers and staff. We plan too much for outreach.
13. What is one capacity/skill area that you would like to focus on for the next year? And how do you plan to achieve this capacity? (required)
Conflict resolution, management of volunteers, tools and gadgets that are in current use by other affiliates and we are unaware. Funding strategies.
14. If you have additional information or reflections that don’t fit into the above sections, please write them here. Use the space below to upload any additional documents that would be useful to understand your report.
For affiliates, also use this section (Question 14) to fulfill the Affiliate Health Criteria requirements.
- Describe and link to any public-facing documentation for affiliate governance, including affiliate leadership and membership with a breakdown of the demographics; how elections are conducted; how conflicts of interest are declared; and how decisions are made and communicated (2.2, 2.3, 3.1).
- Describe and link to any public-facing documentation for activities incorporating, promoting awareness about, or enforcing the Universal Code of Conduct in your affiliate's activities (3.3).
- Describe and link to any public-facing documentation for internal membership engagement, such as notes from your regular meetings and how you communicate to or involve your membership (4.1).
Current board: [3] We log very little information about our members. Currently we don't track demographics or similar. Should be noted that we plan to change that. Elections were celebrated this very same year in our internal wiki at wiki.wikimedia.cat. There is an internal announcement in our main channel of communication (internal mailing list), we announce both the opening of the election period and the due date for the general assembly, in which will ratify the online results. During two weeks candidates can present their projects and teams and some Q&A. After that another two weeks for voting. At the end we ratify it in a General Assembly. Link to harassment protocol: [4] General indications in our events (link to this year's Viquitrobada) [5] We do a presentation at the beginning. For membership engagements we kept track of our members and their activities, we check on them and their activities. We encourage them to step-up and take part in organizing activities and decision making. There is also some level of social media and group chats.
Part 4: Financial reporting
[edit]For affiliates, also use this section (Part 4: Financial reporting) to address Affiliate Health Criterion 3.2 (Financial & Legal Compliance).
| Description | Planned / received budget for this category (EUR) | Amount spent (EUR) |
|---|---|---|
| Personnel costs | 63600 | 19703 |
| Operational costs | 7950 | 5627.75 |
| Programmatic costs | 29900 | 5880.38 |
| Total General Support Fund | 70000 | 31211.13 |
| Other revenue | ||
| Remaining funds from General Support Fund | 38788 |
15. Please state the total amount spent from this fund in your local currency. (required)
31211.13 EUR
16. Please provide an overview of the amount spent from this fund in the following budget categories in your local currency. (required)
- Operational costs: 5627.75 EUR
- Programmatic costs: 5880.38 EUR
- Staff and contractor costs: 19703 EUR
17. Did you have any other revenue sources (e.g. other funding, membership contributions, donations)? (required): No
- 17.1. Provide the total amount received from other revenue sources in your local currency. (required): EUR
- 17.2. Provide the total amount spent from other revenue sources in your local currency. (required): EUR
18. Provide a financial report document which will provide the details of funds received and spent in the currency of your fund. (required)
- Upload Documents, Templates, and Files.
- Report funds received and spent, if template not used.
18.2. If you have not already done so in your financial spending report, provide information on changes in the budget in relation to your original proposal. (optional)
As the board's two year term ended in August our account we're "frozen" until the regional goverment could validate the new board (November 2025).
19. Do you have any unspent funds from this funding?: Yes
- 19.1. Please list the amount of unspent funds in your local currency. (required)
- 38788
- 19.2. Explain why you did not use the amount. (required)
- We didn't include a second position (staff) for social media / comms. in general. And our only staff departed in July. Until December we couldn't bring somebody else in. That's the most significant change. The staff did not conduct all the tasks that were planned and which included dedicated budget plans. Also our Viquitrobada (annual meeting) was held in Lleida with overall very small costs (some members don't want reimburses for their travel expenses as they see it as a contribution to the affiliate). As we normally plan the funding related to the grant a year before, we don't normally know where is going to be the next Viquitrobada. This is why over all these last years it's always steady at 10.000€. This year was "cheap" but when we do it in the Land of València, Balearic Islands, Andorra, Catalunya Nord, etc It overextends the 10.000€.
- 19.3. What are you planning to do with the underspent funds?
- B. Propose to use them to partially or fully fund a new/future request with PO approval
- 19.4. Please provide details of hope to spend these funds.
- Although we are not eligible for receiving a Grant in the General Support Fund this January and we don't have a multi-annual planning funding, we will be continuing to operate at the same level. Maximizing outcomes from already functioning projects and engaging in new activities that are doable with our situation. Yes, keeping some of the under-spend funds will be very useful but having this high level of resilience makes it a parenthesis or a little bump which we will overcome. As we are scrambling to keep going without funding right now we are a delayed in producing an Strategic Plan for 2026-2030 and a Anual Activities Plan 2026. But the board and contractor keep it in the priority list.
20. Final confirmations (required)
- 20.1. Are you in compliance with the terms outlined in the fund agreement? You must be in compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations restricting the use of the Funds as outlined in the grant agreement. In summary, this is to confirm that the funds were used in alignment with the Wikimedia Foundation mission and for charitable/nonprofit/educational purposes.
- Yes
- 20.2. Are you in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as outlined in the grant agreement?
- Yes
- 20.3. Are you in compliance with provisions of the United States Internal Revenue Code (“Code”), and with relevant tax laws and regulations restricting the use of the Funds as outlined in the grant agreement? In summary, this is to confirm that the funds were used in alignment with the WMF mission and for charitable/nonprofit/educational purposes.
- Yes
