8. What are your programs, approaches, and strategies? What are the challenges that you are trying to address and how will your strategies support you in addressing these challenges? (required)

Our programs, approaches, and strategies are designed to address key challenges across four strategic objectives:

1. Community Development & Growth Challenge: A limited pool of contributors with diverse skills and knowledge. Strategy: We aim to increase and diversify our membership base by engaging various demographic groups, including students and local experts. We are organizing community outreach events, workshops, and partnerships with educational institutions to attract new members and offer targeted skill-building opportunities. This will help broaden the community's collective knowledge base and improve the quality of both contributors and contributions.

2. Content Creation & Improvement Challenge: Insufficient quantity and quality of Ugandan-relevant content on Wikipedia platforms. Strategy: Our focus is on creating and improving content that reflects Uganda's culture, history, languages, monuments, and knowledge. We conduct content drives, edit-a-thons, and collaborations with local experts to enhance the authenticity and coverage of Ugandan content on Wikipedia. We also aim to improve accessibility by creating content in local languages and ensuring content is inclusive and diverse. This strategy will address the gap in Ugandan representation in global knowledge databases.

3. Advocacy & Awareness of Open Knowledge Challenge: Limited public understanding of the importance of open knowledge and barriers to inclusive knowledge creation. Strategy: We promote the value of inclusive open knowledge by engaging with policymakers, educational institutions, and civil society organizations. Our advocacy campaigns focus on raising awareness about the benefits of open knowledge and advocating for inclusive policies that support free and accessible knowledge sharing. This will increase community buy-in and encourage collaboration, helping to overcome legal and societal barriers to open knowledge creation in Uganda.

4. Organizational Capacity & Sustainability Challenge: Ensuring long-term sustainability through strong governance, operational efficiency, and diversified funding. Strategy: We are focused on building robust governance and operational structures to ensure the smooth running of our organization. We are developing policies, improving financial oversight, and fostering leadership within the community. To secure long-term sustainability, we are working to diversify our funding sources, including seeking grants, partnerships, and donations. Strengthening organizational capacity will enable us to execute our programs effectively and sustain our impact over the long term. These strategies collectively aim to address the challenges we face by increasing community engagement, improving the quality of content, advocating for open knowledge, and building a sustainable organization.
