Part 1: Understanding your work
[edit]Per the recent update on the Wikimedia Foundation Affiliates Strategy process, Wikimedia Affiliates that are General Support Fund grantees will fulfill their affiliate reporting requirements through their final or yearly grantee report.
If you are a Wikimedia Affiliate, you will use this form for your affiliate reporting and to address the affiliate health criteria. You do not need to submit a separate report to AffCom. Follow the guidance in the green boxes to report on how you met the corresponding affiliate health criteria.
If you are not a Wikimedia Affiliate, aligning your responses with the affiliate criteria is optional and not required.
1. Please share to what extent your programs, approaches, and strategies contributed to addressing the challenges you shared in your proposal. If they did not contribute as you believed they would, please share what obstacles you faced and what, if anything, you learned from them? (required)
For affiliates, use this space (Question 1.) to address Affiliate Health Criterion 1.1 (Goal delivery). Describe how you actively delivered on mission goals, e.g. content creation.
Con la presente propuesta pudimos abordar aspectos relacionados a los desafíos que hacen parte de la realidad sociocultural de la comunidad wayuu, el principal tema tratado fue el proceso de escritura y su comprensión por parte del grupo de editores y editoras, en ese sentido, se trabajó colectivamente para crear una herramienta de fácil uso y comprensión, por lo tanto, se realizaron 3 mesas de trabajo para sistematizar y diseñar una aplicación para el aprendizaje del wayuunaiki, dichas reuniones contaron con la participación de conocedores del idioma y conocedores de la escritura. La herramienta fue denominada Wekirajaaya, el cual traduce: nuestro aprendizaje, y está disponible en la guc.wikipedia.org y en la versión local de la red wayuu digital.
En el marco del mismo desafío, intentamos crear materiales audiovisuales con el apoyo del Dr. José Ramón Álvarez, reconocido lingüista y estudioso del wayuunaiki, sin embargo esto no fue posible por complicaciones de salud del mencionado personaje, en ese caso nos tocó aterrizar las acciones sobre otros aspectos de la propuesta, esto con el fin de equilibrar las acciones y atender otros temas con mayor énfasis.
Este año también se reorganizó y mejoró la parte visual de la red local en su versión para Wikimedistas Wayuu, la misma fue trabajada con visual studio code, herramienta que ayudó a intervenir los archivos HTML y a reajustar la información allí disponible. La experiencia sobre la red local constó de un proceso de consulta, de diseño y finalmente la presentación de los resultados, en el proceso de consulta participaron los principales lideres y lideresas que conocen y han utilizado la red local en sus lugares situados, luego, se procedió a contactar a un diseñador para la creación de algunas ilustraciones que representen mejor la identidad del colectivo, y por último, se socializaron los resultados en algunas escuelas rurales de la Guajira colombo-venezolana.
Por otro lado, se llevaron a cabo talleres locales contextualizados y liderados por activistas de cada comunidad, sobre esto hubo resultados favorables en relación a las métricas, ya que se pudieron completar las metas cuantitativas en el 8vo mes del proyecto, es decir, el número de ediciones y otros elementos de las métricas fueron completadas antes de finalizar el proceso. De igual forma seguimos con el plan de apoyar y animar a otros grupos indígenas de la región a participar en los proyectos Wikimedia, por lo cual se realizaron charlas, talleres y conferencias sobre esta temática.

Creemos que pensar en herramientas fáciles de usar y adaptables al contexto es necesario para generar un proceso de apropiación, en ese sentido, durante este proyecto creamos una aplicación para apoyar en el proceso de comprensión de la escritura del idioma, dicha herramienta cuenta con las voces y el apoyo de la comunidad de editores y editoras, esto último porque somos partidarios de la co-creación y la consulta colectiva para generar la participación de las personas, estamos convencidos de que generar la participación ayuda a reconocer las capacidades operativas y técnicas de la comunidad.

Nuestra comunidad se organiza a partir de un sistema de parentesco matrilineal, en donde las mujeres cumplen el papel de transmisoras y guardianas del conocimiento, por lo tanto, es común ver que en nuestras actividades haya más presencia de lideresas, docentes y activistas femeninas.
Nuestras actividades buscan generar cohesión, entendimiento y reconocimiento del aporte de cada persona, por lo tanto se caracterizan por ser espacios libres de cualquier forma de discriminación, en ese sentido, apoyamos y le damos la bienvenida a cualquier persona que quiera formar parte de la experiencia que se está tejiendo. De igual forma siempre extendemos la invitación a otros grupos indígenas a documentar sus saberes a través de los proyectos Wikimedia.
Una de las ventajas que poseemos como grupo y equipo es que los talleres son mediados por conocedores de la realidad y de las particularidades de la cultura local, por lo tanto nos referimos a talleres y encuentros donde prima el respeto y el reconocimiento mutuo entre los participantes.

Durante el lapso del presente proyecto, algunos miembros del STAFF de WMWA fueron capacitados en el manejo de la plataforma de Wikipeetia, esto con el fin de aumentar sus destrezas a la hora de realizar talleres de edición en diferentes zonas del territorio, los puntos tratados fueron: uso de las páginas de discusión, uso de Wiki-café, traslado de títulos, creación de cuentas, los 5 pilares de la Wikipeetia süka wayuunaiki, categorías, edición en código y visual, enlaces internos, enlaces externos y todo lo referente a la parte gráfica de la guc.wikipedia.org. Por otro lado, también se desarrollaron mesas de trabajo para el análisis interno del grupo en lo referente a habilidades en la formulación de proyectos.
Un miembro del STAFF se capacitó en edición y uso de visual studio code para la intervención de los archivos HTML del proyecto red local, además participó en un pequeño taller sobre el manejo de Raspberry Pi y su uso en zonas desconectadas, lo anterior en el marco de la Wikimania realizada en Katowice, Polonia 2024.
WMWA también socializó y habló de su experiencia en la construcción de la Wikipedia en wayuunaiki, fueron 3 sesiones junto al equipo de Let's Connect, tiempo en el cual se compartió la narrativa de empoderamiento, el control de datos indígenas, el uso de la tecnología para el fortalecimiento de las lenguas, los desafíos técnicos y la forma de afrontarlos.

Como grupo buscamos centrarnos en capacidades como la escritura del wayuunaiki, ya que este punto es fundamental para seguir perfeccionando la calidad de los artículos escritos en la Wikipeetia y otros proyectos. De nuestro STAFF principal solo algunas personas poseen un conocimiento sobre la escritura del idioma, sin embargo, se necesita que todo el equipo domine el proceso de manera más profesional.
Para cumplir con lo antes mencionado, en el próximo año realizaremos un proceso de formación junto a la sociedad bíblica colombiana, organización reconocida por su arduo trabajo con lenguas indígenas de la región, sobre esto ya se han realizado conversaciones y acercamientos. De igual forma se buscará afianzar la relación con lingüistas como José Ramón Álvarez, María Teresa Bravo, Nuris Ballestero, entre otros.
