Después de caminar un largo proceso de una auditoría, sufrimos algunos escenarios que no habíamos vivido antes y estamos construyendo la Planificación estratégica 2026-2029. Nuestras prioridades no se han modificado sustancialmente:

Lenguas indígenas
Acceso a las TIC
Restricciones del derecho de autor a la cultura libre
Amenazas a la libertad de expresión en línea
Fortalecimiento institucional, incorporando las recomendaciones derivadas de la auditoría.

Los programas son:

Comunidad. La comunidad de Wikimedia México se caracteriza por su entusiasmo, cercanía y por su contínua participación para crear y proponer actividades; por lo cual este programa es responsable de brindar atención y acompañamiento a la comunidad en todos sus grupos: personas asociadas al capítulo, personas voluntarias activas y personas entusiastas. El trabajo de Comunicación se encuentra en el programa de Comunidad, al ser fundamental para el crecimiento y consolidación del capítulo. Se busca crear contenidos desde una mirada amplia, en constante aprendizaje de las audiencias de manera funcional.
Género. Desde 2020, el Programa de Género de Wikimedia México trabaja para cerrar la brecha de género en Wikipedia y sus proyectos Wikimedia, enfocándose en apoyar y capacitar a mujeres que desean contribuir al conocimiento libre, abierto y colaborativo, así como fomentar espacios seguros, confiables y amigables con 5 proyectos: Editatona, #NosotrasEscribimosWikipedia, Escuela de Mujeres Wikipedistas, Encuentro de Mujeres y Tecnologías #JuntasEnInternet y las Jornadas de escucha y compartición entre mujeres
Educación. Cada año se fortalece y consolida el compromiso pedagógico con el movimiento del conocimiento libre en el país, desde la reflexión y la acción con cada una de sus modalidades, enfoques (educación formal, no formal e informal) y procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje.
BAM, Bibliotecas, Archivos, Museos y colectivos y organizaciones culturales. Comunidad. Trabaja por consolidar un modelo institucional replicable que permita la integración de las bases de datos, archivos y colecciones culturales a los proyectos Wikimedia como artículos enciclopédicos en Wikipedia, multimedia en Wikimedia Commons y elementos y bases de datos a Wikidata. A la vez, capacitar y acompañar a personas bibliotecarias, gestoras culturales y personal en la sociedad del conocimiento libre para que puedan integrar e implementar este modelo desde sus instituciones como aliadas de los proyectos Wikimedia.

El trabajo de Wikimedia México se ha realizado con instituciones académicas, culturales y de gobierno además de asociaciones civiles y colectivos, muchas de estas alianzas son transversales y colaboran en varios programas a la vez. Podemos destacar: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, a través de diversas facultades e institutos como el Instituto de Investigaciones sobre la Universidad y la Educación (IISUE), la Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos, la Secretaría de las Mujeres, institutos locales de mujeres, la Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de México, el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI), LABNL Lab Cultural Ciudadano de Nuevo León (centro de creación cultural y participación ciudadana), la Red de Bibliotecas y Archivos del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México (RBACH) integrada por 80 bibliotecas, acervos y archivos gubernamentales, académicos y culturales. Algunas organizaciones de la sociedad civil con las que compartimos objetivos y han decidido apoyar nuestra misión: Artículo 19, Social Tic, Luchadoras, Lúminas, R3D, Un río en el río, entre otras.
