Wikimedia Greece started in 2013 and has been increasingly active over the years. As the next step in their journey, the group registered as an association (Somatio) in 2019. Wikimedia Greece has organised various events over the last decade, involving many people and attracting them to the Wikimedia vision and principles. There are currently 21 members of the association, and 15 active members of Wikimedia Greece.

Wikimedia Greece has been active for over a decade, and now ready to take the next step in their journey to become a better functioning and effective Wikimedia group as well as a transparent civil society organisation.

Based on the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis, three major areas have been determined in order to be included in the strategic plan to move the organisation forward and organise the activities accordingly: These areas are:

  • Forming strategic partnerships including the Education sector and international organisations in Greece
