"Information is power. Sharing it is empowerment." – Adapted

Through advocacy, digitalisation, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships, this project drives change by expanding access to open knowledge for all, including underrepresented and physically challenged communities. Through workshops, GLAM activities, and targeted campaigns, we digitize and share content on Wikimedia platforms, bridge knowledge gaps, and empower youth and women. By collaborating with local, regional, and global institutions, we foster inclusive learning, equitable contributions, and sustainable impact aligned with Wikimedia’s mission.

Our training engulfs three (3) programmatic areas which focuses on bridging the gap from youth inclusion, specifically young girls, physically impaired thus hearing impaired groups, solving climate change and human rights concerns. Additionally, we have a long term sustainability systems approach for partners and collaborators.

PI - Knowledge Sharing - (WIKIFORINCLUSION)

“Inclusive and sustainable economic growth can drive progress and generate the means to implement the Sustainable Development Goals.” ― Oscar Auliq-Ice With this quote in mind, our quest for the past 4 years is to bridge the literature gap of some SDGs on Wikipedia and its sister projects; we will achieve this through Edit-A-Thons , Workshops and training with hearing impaired persons, Climate Change and Human Rights activists.

Action Item: Signing of articles on GHSl to be uploaded on youtube from house of Grace and UEW Collaborating with Technical universities with students with hearing impairment to share their project work with the team they pitch Signing of 3 articles per week; 100 articles translated into signed videos; then transferred to commons.

PII- Advocacy & Education ( DigitalSkillsforYouth) This is a continued project which aims to strengthen, equip and empower the youth, specifically women/girls aged 13 -21 years on the importance and benefits of using Open Educational Resources while in school or preparing for the University. This pre-university approach follows the pattern of YaliChecks on media literacy; the edit-a-thon will house young students from Junior and Senior High Schools. It will also look at having media institutions and representatives to build the capacity of the youth on digital skills. Action Item: Offer quarterly edit a thons on youth and women celebrations. Training the Trainers thus young girls in University on gender and school related topics to hold the mantle through active leadership and training amongst their peers. This will look at creating content, improving and contributing to Wikipedia, WikiData, Wikibooks, quotes and commons with 1000 edits distributed per the year. Hence Student Ambassadors Methodology where over 15 young female trainers will train their fellow colleagues with their expertise and experience with its network to improve Wikimedia projects as a research tool to curb misinformation PIII - Digitalisation (GLAM INITIATIVES & HUMANRIGHTS/CLIMATE CHANGE) This will be conducted through Glam activities with cultural organisations which focus on GLAM, environment and sustainable groups as well as social and educational institutions. This covers all our project focus such as libraries, museums, and archives GLAM outreach, Human rights and environment as well as climate change initiatives, and content gap on media representation on Wikipedia articles.

All content will be transferred to Wikimedia commons as the main repository. Likewise, Wikipedia articles without a face will have its images and audiovisuals assigned to them.

Action Item I:Upload images of notable people (past and present), historical figures, and cultural heritage sourced from PRAAD’s collections, while also documenting peculiar street names, landmarks, and archival maps of historical or cultural significance and areas of historical or cultural interest in Ghana through photowalks. These images will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and used to illustrate and enrich Wikipedia articles, increasing public access to and engagement with Ghana’s heritage. This will comprise of 2 photowalks, 1 workshop and 2 edita thons. Action Item II: Design/sketch headshots of African personalities/leaders/innovators in the environmental spaces. Attend the top 5 climate change conferences in Ghana and document personalities and organisation. Additionally, organise photo campaigns to document domestic animals in Ghana.
