Part 1: Understanding your work
[edit]Per the recent update on the Wikimedia Foundation Affiliates Strategy process, Wikimedia Affiliates that are General Support Fund grantees will fulfill their affiliate reporting requirements through their final or yearly grantee report.
If you are a Wikimedia Affiliate, you will use this form for your affiliate reporting and to address the affiliate health criteria. You do not need to submit a separate report to AffCom. Follow the guidance in the green boxes to report on how you met the corresponding affiliate health criteria.
If you are not a Wikimedia Affiliate, aligning your responses with the affiliate criteria is optional and not required.
1. Please share to what extent your programs, approaches, and strategies contributed to addressing the challenges you shared in your proposal. If they did not contribute as you believed they would, please share what obstacles you faced and what, if anything, you learned from them? (required)
For affiliates, use this space (Question 1.) to address Affiliate Health Criterion 1.1 (Goal delivery). Describe how you actively delivered on mission goals, e.g. content creation.
Our three main programs (Education & Science, Community and GLAM & Partnerships) and approaches implemented during this period contributed meaningfully to addressing the challenges identified in the proposal. Let's explain the challenges:
1) Content gaps and disproportional representation = full success. We are dealing with content gaps all the time on mk.wiki, and the number of created and improved articles in the course of 2025 is 6500 all together from all three programs. That is a good number for us.
2) Active participation in volunteer initiatives = full success. In Education and GLAM program the volunteers are very active and participate as expected. The Community program is aimed for volunteers in first place, and attracted participation of many different groups of volunteers. Editing activities and contests for community, expeditions, photo contest, and the project Photohunts have a good number of participants. Participation in the community meetings is not as we expected, and we know that there is a way to inspire the community volunteers for higher participation. For example, five out of seven community meetings were not attended by a sufficient number of people. More people are coming for Wikipedia birthday meeting, and of course for three day gathering Team Building, but there are very few Wikipedians on regular meetings. What we learned from this situation is that we have to conduct meetings in different cities from time to time, as it seems that volunteers and Wikipedians are no longer interested in meetings conducted only in Skopje.
3) Preservation of heritage and data = full success of our GLAM program. The theme of the most of the GLAM activities, including the Wiki Camp, was "Traditional crafts, handicrafts, and folk costumes".
In 2025 we failed with the WikiVillage project as we didn't manage to sign an agreement with any municipality in order to conduct this project. It was hard enough in 2024, but this year 2025, we decided to give up on this project. What we learned from this situation is that sometimes one has to give up and start other kinds of similar projects. That's why for 2026 we are going to change the project based on QRpedia, i.e. we are going to conduct WikiStreet project, instead.
2. Is there a plan to build on the key successes you had? If yes, please describe the plan and if no, please share the limitations to do so. For instance, did the activities lead to any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future? (required)
Of course, there are several key successes we had that we can build on, particularly collaboration with GLAM institutions, EDU program and Wikiexpeditions. In the future we want to continue similar activities with improvements, or exactly the same activities with more confidence. Every time we collaborate with the new GLAM or Science or EDU institution, there are a plenty of new ideas coming from our partners or from volunteers and employees.
Let's mention one of them: the collaboration about experiments with the Biology Department of Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (PMF), led to the determination of the theme for GLAM activities in 2026: endemic plants of Macedonia! During the shooting of the experiments, Professor Sara Cvetanoska carried out a series of biology experiments covering different topics and levels of complexity. She mentioned during a break from filming that the Biology Department has a herbarium with over 80,000 plant species, including 3,700 that grow in Macedonia, and that they have all the endemic species in the herbarium. She also said that the depratment is willing to give them away as photos for Wikipedia's needs.
One activity (filming experiments) led to the idea for activities and goals for 2026 GLAM program.
3. Please provide a link to reports that detail the activities that took place in the last year. This can include an annual report, Meta pages, and websites. If there are no links available, briefly describe the implemented activities and programs below or upload any files. (required)
For affiliates, use this space (Question 3.) to address Affiliate Health Criteria 2.1 (Affiliate health & resilience), 4.1 (Internal engagement), 4.2 (Community connection), and 4.3 (Partnerships and collaboration):
- Describe your activities engaging new users, new members for your decision-making body(ies), and developing leaders and organizers (2.1).
- Describe your activities creating or hosting spaces to encourage greater collaboration and engagement among your members (4.1).
- Describe how you engage with the contributing community that you serve and/or support (4.2).
- Describe your partnerships with other affiliates or with non-Wikimedia entities (4.3).

4. Are you interested in sharing what you achieved or learned this year with the wider community through different peer learning programs (e.g. Let's Connect program, Diff)? (optional)
Yes, and we are already sharing our achievements and projects online: at EduWiki Showcase, CEE Catch Up, Newsletters (CEE, GLAM, EDU), but also on in-person events and conferences, as our members were attending several wiki conferences, such as: Wiki Youth (in Prague), Wiki Life (in Belgrade), WMCEEM (in Thessaloniki), Wikimania (in Nairobi).
5. Did you collect feedback from your community or target groups on how the activities implemented impacted them? If yes, please attach/provide information on the results (e.g. community surveys, stories, impact booklets/reports, interviews with partner institutions, etc). Did you collect other impact-specific data? (required)
For affiliates, the response to Question 5. also partially addresses Affiliate Health Criteria 4.1 (Internal Engagement), 4.2 (Community Connection), or 4.3 (Partnerships & collaboration), where applicable.
We always collect feedback from the community and participants on our activities, but most of the time, the feedback was collected informally through direct conversations, discussions during activities, and follow-up communication with community members and institutional partners. What we can rely on as good feedback is a three-day event Team Building with 20 participants from the Macedonian community when we gather to share ideas, thoughts and the bases of the future collaborations. The goal of the event was to strengthen the sense of community among active editors of the Macedonian-language Wikipedia and to encourage discussions about the development and improvement of Wikimedia projects. As part of the program, several important presentations and talks were held: presentation on Wikidata, talk about the importance of digitizing public documents, books, and archival materials, talk about the Macedonian version of Wikisource, talk about practical tips for efficient and high-quality editing, etc. The participants had the opportunity to connect, discuss, and share ideas in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which resulted with creating new initiatives for future collaborations.
In the part of the project page named: report (Извештај) we shared the discussion with the whole Macedonian community. (Macedonian language)

6. During the fund period, did your efforts do any of the following? (required):
For affiliates, the response to Question 6. also partially addresses Affiliate Health Criterion 2.2 (Diversity balance).
- 6.1 Bring in participants from the following groups: women, people from lower socioeconomic status, young people, speakers of minority languages
- 6.2 Develop content about the following underrepresented topics or groups of people: women, speakers of minority languages
- 6.3 Support the retention of: Editors, Organizers, Partnerships, Wikimedians in Residence positions
7. What, if any, effective tactics or approaches can you share that worked well when dealing with the programs under points 6.1-6.3 that you selected? (optional)
We use direct, personal communication with institutions, which is usually a highly effective way. Even with the people from Embassies we collaborate with, they appreciate when we approach and say: "We have a volunteers who are willing to create articles about your country (history, sport, arts, music, geography, etc.) but we would like the Ambassador to give the awards to the 5 best participants."
Much of our activities are in person workshops with hands-on support during activities, instead of only online calls. We found that people like to collaborate in group activities and they feel free of the fear of Wikipedia's rules when they are guided step-by-step at in-person activities.
About young people, we work with the youth: high school students and University students. We started a new EDU project for University students, named Wiki practice. By participating in this project, students have the opportunity to realize their professional practice in a creative and socially useful way, by writing, editing articles on Wikipedia. The Wiki practice started on October 2025 with 11 students who created 92 new articles so far: [6]
8. If you developed partnerships, which of the following factors most helped you to build partnerships? Please pick a MAXIMUM of the three most relevant factors (optional):
Permanent staff outreach, Board members’ outreach, Volunteers from our communities

Tool used and comments (optional):
Counting and outreach dashboard for some of the numbers. On commons, we are counting several categories with photos, such as cateogries for Wikiexpeditions, for Wiki Loves Food, for GLAM activities, Photohunts, Film festivals, etc. Its confusing to us that uploading and creating pages on Wikisource is going slow, but we are persistent in this activity. There are 200 new pages in the category of Macedonian folk stories, and in the category of Macedonian epic folk songs:

Part 3: Skill Development / Capacity Building
[edit]12. Reflecting on your programmatic (external) and organizational (internal) work, did your grant support you to undergo any skill development that made a difference to your success? If yes, what skill was developed, and how did it lead to success? (e.g. received coaching on public speaking, attended training on nonviolent communication, hosted professional development conversations on leadership, learned and used a new tool for project management, etc.)? Can you share any materials? (required)
For affiliates, use this space (Question 12.) to address Affiliate Health Criteria 2.2 (Diversity balance) and 3.1 (Diverse, Skilled, and Accountable Leadership):
- Describe actions taken to prioritize gender balance in affiliate leadership, as well as any areas of diversity relevant to your affiliate's context (2.2).
- Describe the management, financial, or other leadership skills of your affiliate leaders. If you have a succession plan, please include it here (3.1).
- Describe any training or skill development (as outlined in the question above) (3.1).
- Incorporate into the annual report a disclosure of conflict of interests (if any) from the leadership (3.1).
Yes, through the projects and programs implemented by Wikimedia MKD, employees and active members have continuously developed a wide range of professional and practical skills by participation in online meetings organized by other affiliates and CEE Hub. During 2025, employees and active members acquired presentation skills, and public speaking skills. Also, being part of many presentation in front of the students, the teachers, presenting at the conferences in front of the others Wikipedians is crucial for developing speaking skills and overcoming the fear of public speaking.
We are constantly learning new tools in our work. We have to add that on WMCEEM Conference in Thessaloniki our participants listened a presentation of new tools which are in process of preparing by the Foundation. This knowledge was shared and presented to the wider Macedonian community at a three day event, Team building.
Examples:
Bosa Filipovic, Manager of Education Program completed training and Wiki learn course "Introduction to Partnership Building", led by Asaf Bartov.
Jovan Tasevski, Community and Logistics Manager was part of several TV and radio interviews which increase his public speaking skills.
The president of the organization, Nikolche Stojanoski, and Executive Director, Snezhana Shtrkovska have been part of and participated in numerous online conversations and meetings with other Wikipedians from around the world, where one always learns something new, acquires skills, and gains knowledge how to lead organization in a better way.
The other employees, Bojan Velkovski, Communication Manager and Orce Nineski, Coordinator of GLAM program have been at online meetings also, and acquired knowledge that is important for their further work.
These skills increased efficiency and clarity of roles, making the organization’s work better organized. Overall, this skill development contributed directly to stronger partnerships, improved internal organization, and more sustainable outcomes of the work supported by the grant.
13. What is one capacity/skill area that you would like to focus on for the next year? And how do you plan to achieve this capacity? (required)
One key capacity area we would like to focus on in the next year is strategic plan and impact evaluation, as we found it incomplete at the time being. We need to come up with more adequately detailed, and the longer-term motivations and not only for next year, but for the years that come. As we need a more complete strategic plan, we are going to set a serial of meetings and surveys with our members and stakeholders in our country, in order to finish this huge task.
14. If you have additional information or reflections that don’t fit into the above sections, please write them here. Use the space below to upload any additional documents that would be useful to understand your report.
For affiliates, also use this section (Question 14) to fulfill the Affiliate Health Criteria requirements.
- Describe and link to any public-facing documentation for affiliate governance, including affiliate leadership and membership with a breakdown of the demographics; how elections are conducted; how conflicts of interest are declared; and how decisions are made and communicated (2.2, 2.3, 3.1).
- Describe and link to any public-facing documentation for activities incorporating, promoting awareness about, or enforcing the Universal Code of Conduct in your affiliate's activities (3.3).
- Describe and link to any public-facing documentation for internal membership engagement, such as notes from your regular meetings and how you communicate to or involve your membership (4.1).
