Wikimedia Kuwait’s 2026–2027 plan focuses on creating, enriching, and sharing knowledge about Kuwait across Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikisource, Wikidata, and Wikiquote. Our programs include edit-a-thons, contests, photo walks, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.

We emphasize hybrid engagement, combining online and in-person activities, thematic planning to coordinate content creation, and capacity building workshops to empower local contributors. Partnerships with institutions such as Al-Qabas, the Arab Center for Authorship and Translation of Health Sciences, and the Scientific Center of Kuwait strengthen content accuracy and resource access.

Many aspects of Kuwaiti culture, history, environment, and science are underrepresented on Wikimedia projects. To address this, we run targeted projects to create new content and improve existing articles. Limited local participation is addressed through outreach programs for schools and communities, as well as recognition initiatives for contributors.

To ensure high quality, reliable content, we integrate structured referencing, training, and collaboration with reputable local sources.

To effectively manage our growing range of initiatives, Wikimedia Kuwait will have one dedicated staff member and one project manager for each project. The staff member ensures smooth administrative operations, while project managers provide focused leadership for their assigned project, allowing us to deliver high-quality results across in-person and online activities. This will oversee fair allocation of the grant among all members to ensure equitable support for participation and project execution.

Administrative Executive (Staff)

Manage finance and budgeting.
Handle documentation and reporting on Meta, Diff, and other relevant platforms.
Develop and manage partnerships, proposals, and partner meetings.
Organize community meetings, surveys, and research.
Manage social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram).
