1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

This project is aimed at participating in the 2023 Wikimedia Hackathon event. An active community of technical writers have been built in Kwara state as a result of the 2022 Hackathon post-event meetups.

This year's hackathon is targeted at training and equipping new and active technical contributors on how to effectively make use of wikimedia pharicator to report bugs and get tasks to work on. And also, organize a hands-on session for participants to contribute to the Wikimedia tools.

Through this hackathon we hope to train new and active Wikimedian community members on how to effectively make use of the Wikidata technical tools such as Quickstatements, Mix n Match, Depictor and Close to Me tool, etc as this will enable them to pass the knowledge and information gained across to other Wikimedian community members.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

1. Creating Awareness About Wikidata Technical tools: We aim to create awareness about this wikidata technical tools, many editors are familiar with the the basic editing skills of wikidata but only a few are aware of this technical tools and thus enhancing the need for this approach.

2. Creating an Advocate for Open Learning: we hope that educating and training, new and existing technical contributors about Wikidata tools would empower and equip them with this skills to become advocates for the incorporation of wikidata tools into course work as a part of larger commitment to Open Learning.
3. Pre hackathon, Main hackathon and Post hackathon: We will be having this three events as this events will enable participants to become experienced editors and master the act and art of incorporating this four major Wikidata technical tools, which includes:

i. Wikidata Query ii. 'Mix n Match' iii. Quickstatement iv. Wikipedia articles linked to Wikidata items.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1.Sensitization and awareness: Before the event there will be a open call for scholarships where community members can apply. 30 successful participants would be awarded the scholarship to attend the event, After which an online registration form will be passed across to the designated platform to enable participants register for the event.

2. Pre Hackathon Workshop Day: This is a full day practical training that will be broken down into multiple sessions. The first is the introduction sessions where participants will be trained on the general basic and editing guidelines, how to make searches and retrieve information on Wikidata which will be followed by the Main sessions. This session will entail training the participants on the four Wikimedia technical tools mix and match, wikidata query tools, quick statement and linking Wikipedia articles to wikidata items. Additionally, the last session will feature reporting bugs, creating and bug fixing challenges putting in to practice the knowledge and skills so as to solidify their knowledge. The Main Hackathon Day: The main Hackathon Day will coincide with the main Wikimedia Hackathon to allow participants participate directly in the main Hackathon. Moreover, there will be a continuation of the challenges and tasks from the pre Hackathon Workshop Day. There would also be a special monitoring and presentation sessions about the Wikimedia technical tools as this will serve as a forum for participants to learn more and interact.

Post Hackathon Virtual Meet Up: This will be an online event to survey and gauge the participants impact the event has on them. There would be an open avenue for asking of questions and addressing the challenges encountered by participants as this will serve as a forum for participants to learn more and solidify their knowledge also.

Favourdare123(project Lead) : I am an active and experienced Wikimedian editors, I have facilitated some major wiki projects which includes Wikivibrance 2022 amongst other, I also facilitated the 2022 Wiki Hackathon in Kwara State, I will be leading the Project.

Hopilo12 (facilitator): An active Wikimedian editor, she will be assisting us in this hackathon by providing her technical support under volunteer capacity as one of the facilitators of this event.

Akintundedaniel (Communications and Logistics): He is an active and experienced Wikimedian editor, he will be in charge of communication and Logistics.

Our target participants are new and existing technical community members in Nigeria. To ensure sustainability of the participants, new members will join as members of the Wikimedian User Group Nigeria community, participants will be added to the designated social media platform as this will keep them updated and encourage participation in future hackathons and wiki events..

We will adhere strictly to the Wikimedia friendly space policy and UCoC all through the project activities.
