Malgré une richesse culturelle indéniable et une production audiovisuelle en constante évolution, le cinéma africain, et en particulier celui des pays comme le Togo, demeure largement sous-représenté sur les projets Wikimedia. Sur Wikipédia, les articles consacrés aux cinéastes africains, aux œuvres cinématographiques locales, aux festivals de films africains, ainsi qu’aux institutions du 7ᵉ art sur le continent sont souvent inexistants, incomplets ou très peu sourcés. Cette invisibilité numérique contribue à une forme de marginalisation du patrimoine cinématographique africain dans l’espace de la connaissance libre et mondiale. C’est dans cette dynamique que s’inscrit AfroCreatives WikiProject+film (ACWP+film), une campagne annuelle qui vise à mobiliser les communautés africaines et de la diaspora pour enrichir les contenus liés au cinéma et à la télévision africains sur les projets Wikimedia. Après une première édition réussie, l’édition 2025, prévue pour les mois d’août et septembre, mettra l’accent sur des éditathons avec pour objectif de créer de nouveaux articles et d'améliorer de manière significative ceux existants principalement sur wikipédia et wikidata, en s’appuyant sur des sources fiables et en respectant les standards encyclopédiques.

Ce projet s’adresse principalement aux acteurs du monde de l’audiovisuel togolais ainsi qu'à tous les passionnés du cinéma et des projets wikimedia. Des échanges avec les acteurs du monde du cinéma ainsi qu’avec les wikimédiens togolais ont eu lieu sur leur besoin en termes de contenu après l’édition de 2024. L’édition 2025 travaillera avec tous ces acteurs afin de satisfaire ces besoins. Ils seront invités à proposer les articles qu'on pourrait éventuellement écrire eu égard de leur notabilité. Pour finir, un cadre d’échange post-événement sera mis en place afin de continuer à discuter de leurs besoins, des acquis et des possibilités de montée en compétence.
