Part 2: Learning
[edit]4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)
You can recall these learning questions below: 1. We hope to learn how engagement with youths and undergraduates can be used in contributing to Wikimedia projects aimed at promoting climate literacy and reduction in bad environmental behaviours. 2. We hope to create awareness about the environmental issues in Ogoni land and attract experts in the environmental field who can come in develop strategies that will be used to reduce the environmental disaster and ensure a safe environmental. 3. We hope to gain insights into how underrepresented groups in Wikimedia appreciate Wikimedia trainings and how they contribute to Wikimedia projects. Also, we how to learn how to ensure continuous performance from participants and active contribution to Wikimedia projects from their various language and fan club groups. 4. We hope to understand the role of climate literacy in ensuring a safe environment by creating climate ambassadors through Wikimedia projects that will champion a safe environment.
The project exposed us to the level of knowledge of climate literacy among youths in Rivers State and specifically among students of the Ogoni Student Association in the two target universities. At the end of the project, we were able to create awareness about good climate literacy activities, how to reduce poor environmental actions and the way forward in the oil-spilled region. By adding new participants to the various wider wiki groups in Nigeria, we have been able to create a mechanism for retaining editors.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
It was a smooth event. The only unexpected issue was the extended closure of schools for the festive break which led to the extension of the project to enable students to return and resume fully in the various universities under study.
6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)
A diff post is on the way and there will be post project meetings in the Port Harcourt Wikimedia Hub to share our learning.
