1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Wikipedia campaigns have never taken place in Tudunwada, therefore, the change I will bring through this project is recruiting new editors for Hausa Wikipedia. Additionally, articles that are less improved will be developed through this project. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that provides so many types of information of knowledge. But many of our academic staff have led our students to believe that Wikipedia articles cannot be used for research because anyone can add information in Wikipedia. Also, some students do not even know that having the knowledge of editing wikipedia articles that can help to improve their digital reading skills, research skills, critical thinking skills and learning new things outside of their regular academic activities. While interacting with some students and academic staff, I realized that some of them they will edit articles on Wikipedia so users were encouraged to continue editing. Therefore, if this work was done in the College the staff and students they will have the idea about wikipedia content. ( how to search, correct, receive, use and improve the information in Wikipedia) The college will also be informed In terms of using the Wikimedia System such as Wikidata, Wikitionary, Wikicommons, etc., staff and students can access additional information related to the Wikimedia Guide on how to properly manage and edit Wikipedia. The project will help students and staff successfully use Wikipedia (and other Wikimedia products) to search, access, upload, translate, and monitor the information being used. Therefore, the project is intended to continue and create awareness in the College on how to search, edit, retrieve, use and improve Wikipedia information, Public awareness will also be created about

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
  • . I will ask permission and cooperate from the college management to let my Workshop to be done in the college Destination.
  • . Conducting an outreach/awareness creation which will include all facilitators, we will pay physical visits to the Deans of Faculty of Management Sciences, Languages and Library Science.
  • . Organize and carryout a one-day physical awareness campaign at the various Faculties in the college to kick-start the project.
  • . Organize and carryout physical and online edit-a-thon trainings for participants on Wikipedia, wikitionry and Wikicommons respectively spanning a period of one months.
  • . Apply the approach of using volunteer experienced editors in training of new editors and improving the skills of existing editors.
  • . Make use of online communication channels in following up new editors and continue sensitization via the various university online communication channels.

These strategies will be effective because I am involved as a student of the college and a member of the community who has access to the various college communication channels and platforms, also working with a team of well experienced Wikimedia editors.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

ANNOUNCEMENT: In the week of The Event there will be an awareness meeting while I and other Facilitators will pay a visit to the Deans of the Departments of Sciences, Social Science, and Department of Languages ​​to request permission to allow the students to participate in the Wikimedia activities. We will get their permission to allocate a suitable date for our meeting so that we do not interfere with their work time. awareness campaign in college is start the project by placing posters of the event, distributing them to students and staff while educating them about the Wikimedia movement and its activities. We will use online channels to distribute e-flyers and provide information. An online form will be used to collect information from interested participants through various college communication channels. Participants will be divided into groups with an experienced editor assisting each. WORKSHOP: First day: Introduction to Wikimedia/Wiki services, new users will learn what Wikipedia is all about. The first training will be on how to properly search, edit, retrieve, use and improve information on Wikipedia. New editors will create a Wikimedia account and edit on Wikipedia as new users. Day two: Introduce Wikidata as a Wikimedia project, create/edit items on Wikidata. Introducing Wikicommons, a user-friendly uploading of audio-related images. The Third Day. There will be 3 online events on Wikipedia, Wikicommons and Wikidata. This will be a platform to retrain, guide, and track participants. It will also be aimed at those who cannot participate during the physical training. Conclusion; The event will conclude with an online Wiki competition. This competition will be based on 3 Wiki projects. Winners will be announced and awarded with certificates.

The main Target will be Staff and students. The information will be provided by communication with various College messages of sports and staff, for notification, disclosure, and sending. Posters, E-flyers and hard copies will be distributed before the event. An online form will be sent to the project to access and register. During the event, there will be service on the Meta-Wiki account, training, and edit-athon. After the root of the events, the escorts will join in as members in the verses of the users, this will make them to have the interest of the all wikis Activities The channel will be advertised to the available message channel to track, the house, the places, etc. The announce will also be spread to the places that happened in the future. Also, in the group of educational workers of watsapp, we will share a message to invite them to training. Participants will be trained on Whatsapp and in Zoom meetings in addition to in-person training.
