As the Central Kanuri Wikipedia have gotten it's own domain on the Wikipedia platform a wider awareness is needed to boost the activities and introduce, train and motivate the Kanuri speakers most especially the high institution students and educators on how to contribute to Wikipedia in Kanuri Language. *%There is also a need to train existing Kanuri editors on how to navigate Wikipedia, and train them on some Wikipedia guidelines (as they are used to Incubator wiki before). The participants also need to better understand Wikipedia as a major tool in teaching and learning in high istitutions. This project will focus on creating Wikipedia awareness in high institutions in Borno State.
The high institutions are 1 Sir Kashim Ibrahim College of education Maiduguri. 2 University of Maiduguri 3 Borno State University Maiduguri We will organize a social media campaign where flyers and banner's would be shared on all social media channels showcasing the migration of the central Kanuri Wikipedia from the incubator to the main domain of the Wikipedia platform ne with one Click you can access the site without any hassle as before. We will organize 3 series of trainins and edit-a-thons in all The mentioned institution for the students where the participants will have full understanding and knowledge of how to create and edit the newly created domain of the Central Kanuri Wikipedia. Knc.wikipedia.org ; by teaching them how to create articles from scratch, how to improve existing articles, how to add reference and citations to the articles created .
Challenges
- There is need for more participants from Kanuri Language Speakers on Kanuri Wikipedia
- Both existing and new editors needs fresh training on how to navigate Wikipedia (since they only know Incubator before)
- Some Wikipedia Guidelines (such as vandalism, Block or ban from editing Wikipedia, Interactions on Wikipedia, What Wikipedia is and (not) etc.) needs to be properly thought to editors
- More students and educators from Kanuri Language speakers are needed since they are connected more with Wikipedia

- We will organise online and in-person awareness for students and educators in the selected higher institutions
- we will organise both online and in-person trainings for interested participants on how to edit Wikipedia, add references and how to navigate Wikipedia.
- Some major Wikimedia Guidelines such as Friendly Space Policies, Universal Codes of Conduct, Vandalism, and what nessicitate ban or block will be explained properly to participants. We will invite experienced editors to talk on this
- we will target Kanuri Speakers from the selected high institutions for the project

Our plan activities would be 3 physical training/edit-aton and 1 online meet-up. 1. Online Meetup. Facilitate remote training session using Zoom meeting. This session can be structured as interactive webinar or virtual Workshop, covering fundamental topics such as navigating Wikipedia, comprehending its editing interface, citation protocols, and optimal approaches for contributing to Wikimedia projects. 2. Edit-a-thons. We will Organize 3 edit-a-thons and awearness campaign where the participants will have full understanding and knowledge of how Central Kanuri Wikipedia work s; like teaching them how to create articles from scratch, how to improve existing articles, how to add references and citations to the articles created/improved and how to translate articles from English to Kanuri using the content translation tool. how to cleanup the existing articles by improving them as well as creating new contents.

We will use our social media channels to share fliers and to showcase the newly created domain of the central Kanuri Wikipedia to attract more contributors and Audiences .
