Providing Wikimedia projects with up-to-date photos of Polish and international musical artists on stage, across a variety of genres, thus adding to the appeal, timelessness, and current state of music articles for Wikipedia readers. When uploading photos of internationally-known artists, who could have been active for years and even decades, I often found the most recent photos to be from 2007-2008. I have been a Wikimedia concert photographer for more than two years, bringing in thousands of photos each year.
- 7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
The grant budget lists events that I am planning to visit and to take photographs of artists on stage. All of these events, except one item, gather tens of performers and therefore are a good opportunity to enrich multiple articles with photos at one place.
The odd item are single-artist events that I am hoping to photograph in a partnership with a media outlet to serve as an "accreditation sponsor". These would be high-impact music stars; I know Poland will be visited in 2025 by such performers as Iron Maiden, Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons, Rod Steward, etc.
For past reference, as to the quality of photos as well as the character of events photographed, please refer to my Commons userpage, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Wojciech_P%C4%99dzich
In terms of equipment, I shoot two DSLRs, a Nikon D7500 and a Nikon D750, with two lenses, 24-70 and 70-200 f/2,8 which give me good coverage for all sizes of venue. Additionally, I have a 2x teleconverter that allows for more close-ups in large venues.
The list encompasses events that I have already photographed in past editions, one item which is of high possibility in terms of press access, and two items that are optional.
Apart from the activities covered by the grant, I regularly enquire for and receive photo passes in my area of residence, where costs are negligible, but where also the Adobe photo suite (Lightroom + Photoshop) comes into full use.
- 8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.
This is a single-person project in terms of photoshooots themselves. In terms of getting accreditation, most of the items can be covered by myself, while two (Wacken/Rock am Ring and the large-impact concerts) will require assistance. In case of German festivals, I will enquire for the possibility of obtaining press access with de.wikipedia's Festivalsommer programme - when submitting for Wacken Open Air 2023, they were ready to help. Large impact concerts in Poland will rely on the readiness from a Polish music radio station / website to provide access.
- 9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)
I will photoshoot the events on my own, possibly liaisoning with other local Wikimedia photographers if they are present at any of the events, especially international ones.
- 10. Does your project involve work with children or youth? (required)
No
- 10.1. Please provide a link to your Youth Safety Policy. (required) If the proposal indicates direct contact with children or youth, you are required to outline compliance with international and local laws for working with children and youth, and provide a youth safety policy aligned with these laws. (required) You need to inform the community and/or group, discuss the project with them, and involve them in planning this proposal. You also need to align the activities with other projects happening in the planned area of implementation to ensure collaboration within the community.
My concert photography efforts have been a known thing in Polish WIkimedia community and on some occasions, my concert travels were covered by the microgrant programme of Wikimedia Polska, however, I felt the need to consolidate all planned activities into a single large project, so as not to dilute the microgrants.

I am hoping to master my photography skills, as well as improve my planning for large events photography.
