Se logró la compra e importación de un escáner semi-profesional CZUR ET24 y un soporte de madera para digitalizar libros. Se iniciaron las conversaciones para un convenio de digitalización con un Museo local. Se logró principalmente con apoyo de socios de Wikimedia Chile quienes facilitaron los contactos.

Tras un largo proceso aduanero pudimos adquirir el escáner hacia la mitad del periodo del proyecto. Se pudo presentar el dispositivo a socios e interesados y aprender su uso a nivel técnico en distintas reuniones. Nos reunimos con directiva del Museo Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, con quienes acordamos firmar un convenio de colaboración para llevar a cabo la digitalización de su colección de libros aun por digitalizar, durante este año 2026.

You can recall these learning questions below: Diagnosticar cuáles son las necesidades de conservación del material de dominio público en Chile, de tal forma que se pueda identificar aquellas obras que se encuentran vulnerables. Asimismo, se identificarán las necesidades de la institución beneficiada en torno a la difusión de sus colecciones a nivel digital.
Aprender el uso del escáner a nivel técnico, aprovechando al máximo sus funciones y transmitiendo este conocimiento a otros voluntarios que quieran acercarse al ámbito de la digitalización de libros.
Pudimos explorar los aspectos técnicos del escáner y darnos cuenta de que existen alternativas más económicas a los grandes sistemas de digitalización de las grandes bibliotecas, que tienen resultados muy similares.
Pudimos ver la necesidad actual de digitalización de una fundación pequeña, con una colección pequeña, como ejemplo de que aun hay mucho trabajo por hacer en rescatar estos materiales.

El primer desafío fue la descontinuación del modelo de escáner que habíamos presupuestado, y darnos cuenta de las dificultades que existen para adquirir estos dispositivos costosos y delicados en el extranjero. El proceso de envío y aduanas fue extremadamente largo, fuera de lo que habíamos imaginado.
Luego como sorpresa positiva recibo el entusiasmo que mostraron las personas del Museo con nuestro proyecto. Tengo esperanzas en que el proyecto sirva para establecer más alianzas entre el mundo GLAM y el Wiki

Mi plan es comenzar y concluir el primer gran proyecto de digitalización con el Museo, y mostrar esta colección con una página especial o una galería wiki.

Avisado en la página de discusión del proyecto, hicimos cambios en el equipamiento adquirido, lo que resultó en un escáner de similares características y menor precio, y a cambio adquirimos un computador y una pantalla muy apropiadas para el trabajo de digitalización, lo que resultó en un setup de bastante alto nivel y comodidad de uso.
