- 6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)
The primary change we aim to bring is a significant improvement in the quality, quantity, and neutrality of Wikipedia content related to the Druze community, particularly in Arabic. The Druze are an underrepresented minority in both regional media and global encyclopedic platforms, and their history, beliefs, notable figures, and cultural contributions are often either missing or misrepresented. This lack of coverage contributes to public misunderstanding, cultural marginalization, and invisibility in the digital knowledge space.
Challenges we are addressing: Content Gap: There is a notable scarcity of articles related to Druze history, notable figures, traditions, and geographical presence. Bias and Misinformation: Existing content may lack neutrality or be influenced by dominant narratives that do not reflect the Druze perspective. Lack of Editors from the Community: Few to none editors from the Druze community are active on Wikipedia, which limits self-representation. Technical and Editorial Skills: There is a gap in awareness and capacity-building opportunities to equip contributors with the needed skills.
- 7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
The Main activity is an Wikipedia articles contest for the missing articles in Arabic Wikipedia relating to Druze. As usual in WFM ME, we have always a section for increasing content related to People with special needs. We will scan the gap between English and Arabic Wikipedia for all articles related to Druze, then will prepare several lists of these articles, translate the titles to Arabic and make them ready for the contest. These lists will be updated regularly throughout the contest period of time. We will conduct a marketing campaign to get the highest number of contributors and to get the highest number of articles. That campaign will take place through social media, Wikipedia, emails, and different editors active group. We aim to get 300 articles created.
- 8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

Learning and metrics
[edit]- 17. What do you hope to learn from your work in this project or proposal? (required)
Through this project, I hope to learn how to better identify and address content gaps on Arabic Wikipedia, particularly in underrepresented topics such as the Druze community and people with special needs. By systematically scanning, listing, and translating missing articles, I aim to deepen my skills in content gap analysis, translation prioritization, and community-driven knowledge enrichment.
Additionally, I would like to learn more about effective strategies for community engagement and volunteer mobilization. By running a wide-reaching marketing campaign across social media, Wikipedia, email lists, and editor groups, I aim to understand which channels and messaging approaches best motivate contributors, especially in niche topics.
Finally, I hope to learn how to manage a live, evolving contest over time—regularly updating article lists and maintaining momentum throughout the project duration. If we reach our goal of 300 new articles, it would provide valuable insights into sustainable volunteer engagement, scalable content generation models, and best practices for replicating similar initiatives across other knowledge gaps.
Overall, this project will enhance my experience in project management, volunteer coordination, targeted content creation, and impact measurement in the Wikimedia movement.
