The Dzongkha Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon was conducted during the period from 1st August to 31st December 2025. The Dzongkha Wikipedia Edit-a-thon program was conducted at the following locations: 1. Paro 2. Thimphu 3. Phuentsholing 4. Gelephu 5. Punakha. The program was attended by 107 participants comprising of Monks, Youth, Civil servants and private bodies. During the program the participants were taught and advocated about Wikimedia foundation and its mandates. They were also taught how to create users, contribute and edit articles. Besides, improving Dzongkha Wikipedia articles through translation, content expansion, and reference and source verification were also carried out. This resulted in increased article coverage, improved content quality, and better representation of Dzongkha online. Collaborative editing, peer support, access to reliable sources, and clear targets were the most effective approaches in achieving these results.
The Dzongkha terms for medical were also added to Wikidata with the help of Ibrahem and Dr. James.

The project drew heavily on experiences and best practices developed through work on Dzongkha Wikipedia, where large-scale, community-driven content creation requires clear standards, consistency, and continuous review. Similar to Dzongkha Wiki contributions, the work involved careful planning, structured data collection, systematic cleaning, and rigorous validation to ensure accuracy and usability. Clear guidelines and documentation were essential in aligning contributors, just as they are for new editors on Dzongkha Wikipedia. Regular reviews helped identify errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies early, preventing them from propagating at scale.
