L'idée de ce projet est de pouvoir préserver notre culture musicale sur la vision de la journée internationale de musique célébrée chaque année. Dans la communauté congolaise, nous avons des musiciens qui remontent au début du 20e siècle, mais on trouve rarement, voire jamais, ces musiques sur Wiki Commons, Wiki Data. Wikimedia sert de moyen pour préserver, utiliser et exploiter la connaissance. La musique fait partie du mode de vie des gens. Nous profitons donc de cet avantage pour préserver certaines de nos musiques anciennes. En effet, certaines d'entre elles disparaissent faute de documentation appropriée. Ce projet ouvrira également la voie à d'autres contributeurs pour qu'ils puissent contribuer à l'aspect musical de notre communauté et de notre culture. Ce projet comprendra également une recherche afin de déterminer le nombre de contenus musicaux congolais qui appartiennent déjà au domaine public et qui ont une licence libre afin de pouvoir être utilisés sur Wiki Commons et sur d'autres projets Wikimedias. Ce projet présentera des musiques de : 1- Ry-Co Jazz 2- Henry Bowane 3- Freddy Nkounkou 4- Mbilia Casino 5- Pierre Ndinga 6- Panda Gracia 7- Fidel Bateke 8- Pierrot 9- Marie Claire Saïdi 10- Lomingo Alida

L'organisation d'Edit-a-thon de préservation de la musique Congolaise en République du Congo représente une initiative stratégique pour pallier le manque de contenu et d'informations sur Wikipédia concernant ce riche patrimoine musical. Ce projet essentiel contribuera significativement au développement de nos capacités organisationnelles et au renforcement de l'esprit communautaire, tout en ravivant la mémoire collective des musiques marquantes de cette époque, avec pour principal défi de mobiliser et d'engager durablement les participants autour de cette campagne.
