Nupe language is spoken by an increasing number of over 4.5 million people in Nigeria as reported: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nupe_people, However, the world’s biggest encyclopedia with millions of articles written in over 300 languages is yet to include this underrepresented language which implies that there is still a significant gap in knowledge sharing in many languages. Unfortunately, despite the huge progress made in digitizing unrepresented languages, Nupe language has a limited online presence, with only a few resources available on the internet. The introduction and training of Wikipedia in Nupe language community will provide a valuable opportunity for knowledge-sharing and preservation Nupe language and culture. We believe that this project will have a positive impact in Nupe community and contribute to the diversity of content on Wikipedia. Overall, the project will also help recruit and train participants, who will be nurtured into active volunteers and contributors as currently we are tagged among those who might get their site soon: https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Incubator:Main_Page/en

We will adopt the following strategies to achieve effective results:

1. Training and workshops: To ensure that members of the Nupe Wikimedia Community are equipped with the necessary skills to contribute to the Wikipedia incubator, we will organise training and workshops. There will be virtual and in-person workshops which will focus on how to create and edit Wikipedia articles in the incubator and how to cite reliable sources.

2. Translation efforts: We will also encourage Nupe community members to translate articles from other languages into Nupe to increase the representation of the Nupe language and culture on Wikipedia. The following activities will be developed and delivered as part of the project: Organise one (1) time in-person and one (1) time virtual workshops on creating, improving, and translating articles to Nupe wikipedia on the Nupe Wikimedia Incubator (https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/nup), develop online tutorials and resources to support participants in creating and editing Nupe Wikipedia on Wikimedia Incubator, establish a mentorship program to provide ongoing support to participants and host edit-a-thon to encourage participants to contribute to the Nupe Wikipedia on incubator.

1.Team leader- Misbahu Umar : He is an experienced editor who is currently the first administrator on the Nupe wikipedia https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/nup, and happened to be involved in many wikipedia projects. He is among the co-founders of the Nupe's wikipedia submitted to Affcom and Langcom :https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikipedia_Nupe and https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nupe_Wikimedians_User_Group

2. Female Rep- Zeenatu : She have alot of experience in making events colorful as she coordinate the females and make them comfortable in ensuring equity.

3. Facilitator - Umar Ahmad2345 : He has several contributions to ensuring Nupe wikipedia is advance to get it's own site. Having him as part of the team to implement this awareness will be colorful. 4. Logistics - Jameel35 : He is an active editor who always provide time to guide new editors on using incubator. He will play a crucial role of ensuring online guide of using the incubator to new editors.He will be in charge of logistics management.

Our program aims to engage a diverse range of participants, including existing members of the Nupe Wikimedia Community, Nupe natives, and anyone who can contribute to the project in Nupe Language. We recognize the importance of maintaining communication with our participants and plan to utilize various platforms such as WhatsApp (https://chat.whatsapp.com/Kc1ADPPKwQ18lLrC0s8VT8) , Telegram (https://t.me/+OBNT8hbA_WswYzE0) and social media. To ensure continued participation and retention after the project implementation, we have developed a series of strategies. Firstly, we will collect usernames and contact information through feedback forms to keep track of our participants. Secondly, we will offer optional mailing lists for those interested in staying updated on future events. We also plan to identify the most active, knowledgeable, and motivated contributors and invite them to future events, providing them with opportunities to take on leadership roles within the community.

Nupe wikimedia community members were engaged about the proposed project on WhatsApp and Telegram group. We will also share the details of the activities to other platforms.

Stage 1, we will organize two days training workshop then we will monitor the progress of the participants. After a period of time, we will then re-organized another two days training, serving as the

Stage 2 of the project to re-guide and re-orients the participants. The reason for making it so is to foster increased retention, support and recruitment for the community.

Number of editors 30 As we are organizing a retention way for the new and old editors, we expect to have at least 30 editors (old and new) in each. Continues follow ups will be adequately made, so that their constant contributions to Nupe wikipedia in the incubator will lead to having it's own site.
Number of organizers 4 The team comprised of active members of wikipedia as already stated in questions 8 above. The project lead is an incubator administrator who is the first administrator of the Nupe wikipedia https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/nup so also he is the co-founder of the Nupe Wikimedians User Group submitted to affcom https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nupe_Wikimedians_User_Group and lot more.
