We recognize that many Wikipedia projects need content about women who have made exceptional contributions to society, particularly African women. Despite making significant contributions to our culture, many women have received less attention. This is primarily due to the fact that men in many spheres of life still dominate African civilization. This campaign aims to address the significant issue of underrepresentation of women on Wikimedia projects, especially on the Fante Wikipedia and on Wikiquote, especially African women, with a particular focus on improving articles on the Fante Wikipedia and Wikiquote in the Incubator. The goal is to enhance the visibility and representation of women. This will also be an opportunity to involve more female editors, especially in the Fante community, in contributing to Wikimedia projects. Also, as a new and growing community, this will be an opportunity to introduce the Fante Wikimedia Community to a new Wikimedia project. Even though many community members may not have edited Wikiquote in the past, this campaign will present a chance for members to develop their skills on wikiquote.
- 7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. We will participate in the WLW SheSaid 2024 campaign by spearheading Wikiquote training sessions that introduce participants to Wikiquote and guide them on how to contribute effectively. Our activities will include a training session that will introduce participants to Wikiquote and guide them on how to contribute effectively. We will organize two events: one in Ajumako and another in Winneba, where we will focus on creating and enhancing content for the Fante Wikiquote and enriching the Wikiquote entries related to African women on the Fante Wikiquote. To further engage and motivate participants, we will launch a contest to encourage active contributions to the Fante Wikiquote, fostering greater involvement and content development.
