Part 1: Project and impact

This project has bring about change in women contributing in Hausa Wikitionary, there is great progress of participation and inclusion through out the project due to our implemented approaches and activities.
Social media campaign on Women Justification and inclusion where we create a campaign that promote women's awareness on the movement. Women campaign is the first step for the project carried out across Wikimedia and Hausa Wikipedia and Wiktionary Social media channels in WhatsApp and telegram. We have reach out to women editors editing Hausa Wikitionary whom we know and those we don't know, by identifying user contributions and user pages, and they were contacted under one umbrella which has lead to better Women's participation and inclusion. Collaboration with women from other Wikipedia projects such as Hausa Wikipedia, we discussed and obtain information that help us in building an active women movement in Hausa Wikitionary. Building a support and comfort towards contributing accordingly.
Followed by online meetings where conducted and discussion on the potential way forward for women's participation and inclusion, each of the two meetings have a theme, topic of discussion, solutions where implemented. After the meetings it was followed by training for the women participants on effective editing skills for better enrichment of Hausa Wiktionary. feminism content and words were created with full meaning with referencing, this project reflect women's experiences in Hausa Wikitionary, this has help in representation of women's social relationships and gender equality with their male counterparts. Women were encourage in creating women related topics. New female contributors were train on emphasizing bias awareness, pair experienced was initiated where experience female were pair with new female contributors for guidance and support. We develop guidelines for gender-neutral definitions and stereotype avoidance in the Hausa community. We improve and edits women-related word entries, new word entries was created on women's health, professions, and feminist concepts, including definitions, pronunciations adhering to the Wikitionary guidance for word entries. This has lead to elevation of Feminist Consciousness in Hausa Wikimedia ecosystem.
The most effective approaches in this project is physical events, workshop and meet-ups approach, which allows for an interactive sessions with participants face-to-face, as it gives us the general idea and experience on what women are aware about Wikipedia and how they used it. This form bases in understanding women challenges in contributing to wikipedia. This was our biggest achievement because it brought women together for the first time and lay the foundation for networking and collaboration for future activities for women in Hausa Wiktionary. Even though we adjust our activities base on allocated budget, as number of both On-line and in person Workshops was reduced to two (2) events, which impacted the outcomes of contributions as previously plan, yet it was such a successful positive project since our main aim of of developing an inclusive Hausa Wiktionary was achieve, increase women participation, gender bias address and still ongoing, gender inequality, and women justification. This implemented project has increase voices of women that was silent. Women's contribution is now recognized, an active group of women working on developing Hausa Wiktionary projects on women-related content established.

Part 2: Learning

You can recall these learning questions below: We aim to identify and understand the social, cultural, and digital barriers that prevent women from contributing effectively to Hausa Wiktionary and other Wikimedia projects. This includes learning how factors like language accessibility, digital literacy, and gender bias influence participation. By organizing workshops, mentorship programs, and edit-a-thons, we want to learn which approaches most effectively attract and retain female editors. This learning will help design future Wikimedia programs that are more inclusive and sustainable for women. We hope to gain experience in building and documenting best practices for creating women-related and gender-sensitive entries on Hausa Wiktionary. The project will teach us how to strengthen women’s networks within the Hausa Wikimedia community. We expect to learn how collaboration and shared leadership among women editors can transform Hausa Wiktionary into a more inclusive and supportive environment. We aim to learn effective methods for tracking and measuring the impact of women’s participation and content creation over time. This will guide us in designing a sustainable model for continuous female engagement even after the project ends. Finally, we hope to learn how to connect feminist perspectives with digital language preservation in Hausa. This will help us understand how feminist digital participation can enrich both the Hausa language and the Wikimedia ecosystem as a whole.
1. We understand that women are not facing any social barrier that discouraged them rather it allows them in contributions to Wiktionary and other Wikimedia projects, also their education and livelihoods activities have allow them to have more free time to contribute. Also their domestic chores and activities and caring is not a barrier for attending meet-ups, training and participating online.
2 Also, the majority of the train editors are young women they report to us they are not restricted on the usage of Smart phones by either their parents or caregivers especially if it has to do with research in internet and contributing in education Content such as On-line Wiktionary which was a very encouragement to us and Wikimedia foundation. There is absence of cultural stereotypes of barrier to women whom are using internet especially if it's for educational purposes and research.
3. We learn that women are equal to the task in digital literacy, they are learned, and language is not a challenge because all our editors and participants use Hausa as their mother language, and can understand other languages especially English. Though they are literary we understand most women are lacking in terms of awareness and orientation on a what wikipedia and especially Hausa Wiktionary is all about, but through our advocacy and awareness, edit-athons and online trainings they are now up to speed and have acquired the necessary skills to edit Hausa Wiktionary and navigate. And also how to source for materials online (ƙamus) Hausa Dictionary and also in the public domain such as hardcopy Hausa Dictionary. This guidance has help alot in shaping their readiness to contribute in content creation and correcting women related content.
4. This approach of Meetup with women fellows has build an inclusive and equal opportunity to women in expressing their challenges, opinions and gender perspectives in a supportive environment, which was demonstrated even evidently in showcasing in Hausa Wiktionary Content creation.
5. This project has enable us strengthen women networking, collaboration and foundation within Wikimedia ecosystem and especially for Hausa Wiktionary which has come to stay. This will lead to further strengthen women foundation under one voice and one objective of preserving and and understanding feminist perspectives digital and a means of connection for further future engagement and hence retention strategy.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
Though the amount we propose for the project activities was reduce drastically, and at a time services are in the highest rise in Nigeria, we have to adjust the budget to cover our activities in other to make sure we achieve our objectives of the project. We learn about resources management and utilize what is at our disposal, we take it positively and strategize.
Vast majority of the participants and editors are aware of wikipedia, but through outreach and advocacy they it came to the light to them they can also contribute and after the training session they were fully enhance with resources, guides and necessary editing skills on navigating Wiktionary, editing and article creation. We are surprised on the editors unexpected enthusiasm this help in nurturing women involvement.
Technical glimpse and connectivity issues during online training sessions posed a challenge, impacting the seamless sessions participation. Onward future online training sessions will be enhanced through pre-testing, technical support resources, and access to recorded sessions for participants facing connectivity challenges.

The encounter challenge of tracking editors contributions using the outreach dashboard, which I have to abandoned and make use of WMF hashtag tool, which we finally use tracking contributions and for this report. Moving forward in the future we will create the outreach dashboard, register anboard editors first and test it readiness before actual contributions.
