Nupe Wikimedia Community has been contributing content to the Nupe Wikipedia, which resulted in the language Wikipedia being tagged in the Wikimedia Incubator as community that might get it's site soon (https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Incubator:Main_Page/en). Since been verified as eligible we have successfully created over 400 Nupe articles through our Limited Local Content (https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex/Wp/nup/) Existing online content in Nupe is sparse, and local topics remain underrepresented. This gap limits Nupe-speaking users from accessing information in their language. Approach to Achieve This Change: Awareness and Engagement: We will conduct awareness sessions at Federal University of Technology Minna (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_University_of_Technology%2C_Minna?wprov=sfla1) , Abdulkadir Kure University (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdulkadir_Kure_University?wprov=sfla1), to introduce Wikipedia, highlight its significance, and inspire pride in documenting Nupe knowledge. Skills Training Workshops: Hands-on workshops will teach students and educators how to create, edit, and translate articles on Nupe Wikipedia, equipping them with the necessary skills to contribute effectively. Follow-Up and Mentorship: To ensure sustainability, we will provide ongoing mentorship and support to new editors to help them overcome challenges and encourage continuous participation. Institutional Partnerships: We will build relationships with these educational institutions to help us create a long-term structure for participation and to create a community of regular contributors.monthly editathons. However, there is still a significant content and contributor gap that we aim to bridge. Our proposed outreach program at later will help address these gaps as there are more speakers of the Nupe's in this selected institutions. The change we are trying to bring is to increase Nupe content and also active contributors to Nupe Wikipedia from students and educators at both Universities, creating a sustainable base of content creators who will support the growth and preservation of Nupe language online. We hope to build their digital literacy skills, and encourage students into a lasting engagement while they also help us recruit other volunteers in their institutions. Main Challenges: Limited Awareness: Many of our target audience, especially Nupe speakers, are unfamiliar with Nupe Wikipedia or how contributing to it helps preserve the language and culture.

List of Main Activities:
1. Initial Online Zoom Onboarding Event Objective: Introduce participants from the 2 Universities stated in question 6 above about the project. Activities: Provide an overview of the project, explain the significance of contributing to Nupe Wikipedia, and outline the planned activities. Participants will learn the basics of Wikipedia editing, rules for the edit-a-thon, and how to get started. Outcome: Ensure all participants have a clear understanding of the project and feel prepared to engage in the workshops.
2. 2 In-Person workshops, that is to say one in-person event at each Institution Objective: Provide practical, hands-on training in creating, editing, and improving articles on Nupe Wikipedia. Topics to be Covered: Creating a Wikipedia account and understanding user interfaces Provided: Internet access, printed guides, workshop materials, and refreshments. Outcome: Equip participants with the skills needed to contribute effectively to Nupe Wikipedia and produce quality articles.
3. Final Zoom Meeting Objective: Announce winners of the edit-a-thon, provide feedback on contributions, and discuss the impact of the project. Activities: Celebrate top contributors, present awards, and share success stories. Discuss ongoing support and plans for future activities. Outcome: Strengthen community bonds and encourage participants to remain active contributors.
4. Community Engagement and Follow-Up Social Media Integration: Add all participants to the Nupe Wikimedia Community’s WhatsApp, Telegram, and other social platforms. Continuous Mentorship: Offer ongoing support through these platforms, addressing questions and guiding participants as they continue editing. Feedback Collection: Distribute feedback forms to gather insights on the events and improve future training sessions.basics. Planning and Preparation Develop workshop materials, including user guides, presentation slides, and promotional resources. Beginning to assign mentees to experienced Nupe Wikipedia contributors to assist them during and after the training sessions and providing ongoing mentorship. Promote the upcoming events through posters, social media, and outreach to student organisations at the selected institutions. Awareness and Introduction Sessions Visit each institution to conduct awareness sessions, emphasising the significance of Nupe Wikipedia in preserving and sharing Nupe culture. Explain the impact of contributing to a digital resource like Wikipedia and motivate participants by highlighting current achievements, such as the creation of over 400 articles. Distribute informational materials and register interested participants for the upcoming workshops. Skills Training Workshops Conduct full-day workshops at each institution to teach participants how to create accounts, edit articles, and translate content.
