Application type: Standard application
Part 1: Project and impact
1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)
As planned, I carried out two days awareness campaigns sharing flyers, pamphlets and posters about the Visibible Wiki Women Campaign alongside the other facilitators. We gathered the interested individuals on WhatsApp group where we keep engaging and updating them regarding the dates of the physical meetup and the activities expected. This has helped us gained the participants' attention and in making them curious as to learn more about the Visibible Wiki Women campaign since it is happening for the first time in our community. We then had our first physical meetup after which we realized many participants among the newly recruited had issues (as expected) which was the reason why we planned to have a second session in our project proposal. We held the second session where we addressed the issues and continue engaging and guiding the participants online using the dedicated campaign group and on one-on-one basis and that helped us achieved a great success. Below is a highlight of the implemented activities:
November 30th - December 1st, 2024: We carried out the awareness campaign for two (2) days were we promoted the VisibleWikiWomen Campaign to the target participants and let them know about the project goals and activities as well as helped them joined the event dashboard and the campaign's whatsapp group.
December 2nd, 2024: the participants were briefed/introduced to the Campaign activities, new users were guided on how to create a Wikimedia account.
December 3rd, 2024: We organized/held our first physical workshop/training were the participants got introduced to the basics of Wikimedia Commons and Fulfulde Wikipedia.
