According to the United Nations Department of Economic and Social affairs Nigeria's population is estimated at 237 Million people in 2025. And research also shows that over 140 Million Nigerians used the internet referred as Internet community in Nigerian. In Hausa Wikipedia we have 38,635 editor and as of today we have active editors as 257 this is the number of editors that edit within the last 30 days. This is less than 1% of the total editors we have. This statistic is clearly showing, lack of awareness, lack of editors retention mechanism, and lack of proper campaign that introduce newbies to the movement. To this, So we come up with an idea, that will create awareness, bring new editors, engage and retain new and old editors and also skill up editors. This project aim to bridge this gap conducting a street interview (vox pop) to catch the real Wikipedia awareness in Hausa community across northern Nigeria, Kano and Kaduna to be precise. And share those interviews online in other to spark.

1. Wikipedia discussions in our public spaces. 2. Create social media content to for awareness in our local community. 3. Invite participants from the interviews to our training workshop for real participantions.

Our Main Approaches are

1. Vox pop interview recording: asking everyday northerner from Kano and Kaduna state what they know about Wikipedia.

2. Content creation and social media post. Creating short interviews content vox pop (3 - 4 Min), Registration guide content and Wikipedia editing content to be shared widely online.

3. Call to action. Invite participants at the end of every video to a beginners Wikipedia free training workshop.

4.In person training workshop both in Kano and Kaduna for the newly recruit.

Identify, one of the busiest locations for the interviews, eg Kofar Nasarawa Kano state, Zoo Road Kano state, Yakubu Gawon Way in Kaduna state and others.

Branding materials, like T-shirt, Caps, Mic and Banners. To make the campaign recognizable.

2. Vox Pop Filming: Conducting short street interview in Kaduna and Kano to ask not less than 100 everyday people form diversity classes what they know about Wikipedia. Capturing real life experiences of our community about Wikipedia.

3. Content creation and editing: Producing 3-4 short interviews (vox pop) in Hausa with English subtitles. To make it easy understanding and shareable. Across social media.

4. Public Awareness: sharing the content in the most popular social media in Nigeria e.g (Facebook, TikTok and Instagram). Including clear call to action at end of every video that will invite people to free training workshop about Wikipedia.

5. Wikipedia training workshop organised both in Kano and Kaduna. That will train 40-50 participants that were recruited through the social media content and the vox pop.

6. An online workshop focusing on Editors retention mechanism training for organisers in the community.
