The change we are trying to bring through the Hausa Wikipedia Cuisine, Culinary Culture and More project on the Hausa-language Wikipedia is to document and promote knowledge about Hausa traditional cuisine and culinary culture. It will cover a wide range of Hausa local recipes, ingredients, cooking techniques, and the role of food in Hausa culture, thereby helping to preserve, expand and share the rich knowledge of Hausa culinary heritage on Wikimedia projects. This will provide easily searchable, citable, usable content for both Hausa speakers and global audience on Wikipedia. The main challenge we are trying to solve is the lack of inadequate information on Hausa traditional cuisine and culinary culture. Poor or few Hausa contents on cuisine and culinary culture with no or non-verifiable sources. There are no or few editors on hausa cuisine and culinary culture on Wikipedia, there is also very low visibility of Hausa traditional food culture on Wikimedia projects. In order to solve the above under representation, we are committing to the following approaches to achieve it. First Strategy, we will gather traditional Hausa recipes, ingredients, lists, and other culinaries from cookbooks, field research, etc and cite them properly on Wikipedia. Documenting and expanding contents about Hausa traditional cuisine and culinary cultures, (e.g Dish name, ingredients, preparation method, cultural notes) to standardize every entry. Editor recruitment, we will host workshops by inviting cultural organisations, culinary schools students, and Hausa traditional food bloggers and train them on Wikipedia editing and how to contribute. We will set up editor mentors to check and verify accuracy, neutrality and proper sourcing before patrolling every contribution.

The first activity is partnership with local traditional cooks, Hausa traditional food bloggers and culinary schools, they will help provide students contributors and experts reviewers for terminologies. And also promote and provide media for use on Wikimedia Commons. 2. The second activity is to gather sources, we will gather and record oral and visual recipes, photograph markets ingredients, research cookbooks to compile citations to improve content on hausa Wikipedia. 3. The third activity is to organise a Wikipedia Training workshop, we will come together for an in-person training session in order to teach general Wikipedia editing and culinary content creation, where resource people will help with traditional Hausa terminology and our facilitators will guide and train participants on editing and article creation etc. We will develop articles for Hausa traditional dishes, ingredients, and methods of preparation and techniques and also translate related entries into Hausa language from other language projects.
