The project examining the impact of Boko Haram on education in Borno State investigates the severe disruptions caused by the insurgency since 2009. Boko Haram has systematically targeted schools, leading to the deaths of over 2,295 educators and displacing thousands. More than 1,400 schools have been destroyed, leaving nearly one million children without educational access. The group's ideology opposes Western education, resulting in abductions and forced conversions, particularly affecting female students. This project aims to quantify these effects and analyze their long-term implications for educational attainment and community development in the region.

We want to understand how Boko Haram's actions have specifically impacted educational access, enrollment, and attendance in schools throughout Borno State. This includes looking into the number of school closures and the damage to educational facilities. We also interested in exploring the emotional and psychological effects of the conflict on students and teachers, particularly how trauma from violence and displacement influences learning outcomes and teaching effectiveness. Additionally, I hope to learn about the resilience of communities in Borno State and their responses to the educational challenges posed by Boko Haram. This involves identifying successful initiatives that have emerged to support education despite ongoing insecurity.
