1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Universal Wikimedia Fan Club(UWFC), a recently created Wikimedia Fan Club that has been successful in getting volunteers together through a survey we conducted on people's awareness of Wikipedia and its sister projects. We, in our own have been able to engage volunteers through which we have been able to recruit 32 and successfully guided them to create their user accounts. Here(https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Wiki_Club/Operations_and_community_guidelines) is a link to the volunteers who successfully created their Wikimedia user accounts. With this new recruitment, there is the need to introduce them to Wikipedia and its sister projects to get started contributing to the various Wikimedia projects. This project seeks to:

1. Create awareness about Wikipedia and its sister projects.
3. Introduce Wikidata to club members
4. Recruit new editors for the various Wikimedia projects
5. Increase skills for existing editors.
6. Train new editors to contribute to Wikidata
7. Create or improve Wikidata items.
2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

Meetup: This approach allows for people with similar or same interest to meet online or in-person to deliberate on a topic. We will use this approach to discuss about Wikimedia and its projects since it is great for such discussions and deliberations. It is also suitable for people to socialize and connect with one another.

Workshops/Trainings: This approach or strategy allows new users to gain new knowledge and also rekindle what they already know, that is, they refresh their minds on what they already learned. It is an effective approach since we will have in attendance experienced editors and those that are fairly new. Ideas are shared among colleagues during workshops and in this way, participants would not only gain new knowledge but also socialize and get to know more about their co-wikimedians.

Editathon: Editathons are usually the quickest approach to use if one wants to complete a task early. It is very participatory and engages participants more. Participants will be enthused to work more as they see their co-participants doing the same. Again, this approach will allow participants to communicate among themselves and finally address issues among themselves that relate to the event.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

We will have a session to guide newbies who are without user accounts to create accounts for themselves.

Participants will be introduced to Wikimedia Foundation and its projects using the discussion approach. Through this Wikimedia Foundation will be promoted.

Participants will be introduced to Wikipedia and its sister projects with an emphasis on Wikidata, where they will be given a practical session on Wikidata.

We will have a hands-on session on creating/improving Wikidata items on Senior High Schools in Ashanti Region, Ghana.

We will have one-on-one sessions where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions that border them with regard to their skills.

Mentorship sessions will be instituted where completely new participants will be assigned to experienced Wikimedians to mentor them after the various training sessions. This is geared towards retaining volunteers and keeping them active.

Participants who are without user accounts will be assisted to create themselves.

Here is a link to the items that we will be working on: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10zkeKHjFVjZCoB7HaMZiSj8vnXf7nvNNOh9hCZjEepg/edit#gid=0
