Part 1 Understanding your work

[edit]

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

All the activities planned were conducted in the program as schedules in the event page ವಿಕಿಪೀಡಿಯ:ಸಮ್ಮಿಲನ/ವಿಕಿ ಸಮ್ಮಿಲನ ೨೦೨೩, ಉಡುಪಿ. The main intention of the event was to bring together Kannada Wikimedians who haven't met physically from many years and rejuvenate the community to get actively involve in Wikimedia movement. The event successfully achieved this by witnessing participation of Wikimedians from different places. Nearly half of the participants were female Wikimedians which is an important thing to mention. The event had different knowledge sharing sessions related to Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia quiz program, discussions, question and answer sessions happened. Altogether it brought an enthusiastic environment which motivated Wikimedians to continue and boost up their contribution towards Wikimedia movement and projects. Representitives from different User groups and Wiki associations participated.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Yes. Individually reaching the Wikimedians and informing Wiki associations to invite them for the meetup and personal interactions with each other in the event was a great approach. It served the main objective of the event and helped in achieving the goal of rejuvenating the community.

3. Please use this space to upload media and other files that help tell your story and impact.

[edit]

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

As Wikimedia movement is community driven, regular interactions, physical meet ups are really important to carry out the movement more effectively. Within the community, there are Wikimedians with different skills, knowledge and interests. This meet up event greatly helped in exchanging ideas, sharing knowledge.
