Google meet training helped participants who are new to Kannada wikisource with skills to edit and proofread texts on the platform. Sessions included instruction on the basics of page editing, using templates, text formatting, and error correction. and offline workshops focused on students of St Aloysius college.

You can recall these learning questions below: Maintain communication with participants through by sharing updates about upcoming edit-a-thons, relevant events, and new additions to Kannada Wikisource to keep the community engaged and informed. By implementing these strategies, the Kannada Wikisource edit-a-thon can effectively engage Wikisource editors, foster collaboration and learning, and contribute to the growth of Kannada literature online.

  • The success of the Kannada Wikisource Proofreadathon has laid the foundation for future events. To sustain and build upon this momentum, several steps are being:
    • Workshops and Training Sessions: More focused training on templates, proofing, and validation will empower contributors to handle complex texts better.
    • Expanding Participation: Future contests should aim to increase participation, especially from underrepresented groups, by offering incentives and recognition.

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

Due to unexpected and heavy rainfall around August 2024, these workshops were disrupted, limiting the ability to conduct in-person sessions that would have reached a larger audience.The adverse weather conditions led to transportation challenges, making it difficult for students and organizers to travel safely to the workshop venues.

Positively we discovered some content were in Tulu Language which led requesting new wikisource creation on https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikisource_Tulu

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

Created local proofreadathon report and discussed with community members through whatsapp and through google meet 30-September 2024,

We decide to provide wikisource sticker instead of certificates, travelling mugs instead of T-shirts, and gift voucher to for participants raised to 5 from 3 due to large number of participants participated
