Promote biodiversity conservation by writing articles about the native trees which have a legacy in Rwanda for purpose of conservation and promoting the restoration and folklore environment of Rwanda , this is in line with the climate change , folklore and conservation , it will increase the awareness and promote free knowledge plus the efforts to conserve these natural native species , The challenge is Rwanda and east Africa living without indigenous knowledge about ancient Nature, it directly affect the safety of Biodiversity and the whole ecosystem. main approach is campaign and we are partnering with the university of Rwanda Centre of excellence in Biodiversity conservation once it works in Rwanda we scale it to Africa great Lakes Hub since we share the some story of Biodiversty species in our Region.

- An edit-a-thon session to write about the legacy trees , a collaborative session to identify and map them

  • A wiki data project to make a database on native trees
  • A native tree plantation session activity part of the awareness campaign
  • A documentary film and social media posts about the legacy trees for awareness and youth involvement

We are organised as team of 3 people coordinating the project , they have different background in biodiversity and driving the campaign

From the sessions we had in wikimedia Rwanda retreat , we decided to increase the topics of impact and from the strategic planning this was highlighted especially the biodiversity conservation from the project we conducted in wiki for a healthy environment, https://diff.wikimedia.org/2024/08/07/wiki-for-human-rights-2024-in-rwanda/ Members of the community highlighted the legacy trees as one of the topics needed to be documented in different platofrms of wikimedia commons , stories on wikipeida and a database of these legacy trees on wikidata.
