Main Proposal

[edit]
1. [TITLE] Title of your proposal.

MatchStats Editor

2 - 3. [FROM - TO] Proposed start and end dates for the grant proposal. (required)

2026-06-01 - 2026-07-05

4. [AREA OF IMPLEMENTATION] Where will this proposal be implemented? (required)

International (more than one country across continents or regions) As a Turkish, I want to adopt the gadget to the Turkish Wikipedia and make tests with the community members. But I live in Mexico, so that's why I chose that option.

5. [TARGET GROUP] Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

I made an announcement in the Telegram group of the user group. I will make another announcement in the village pump so I can find editors to test the tool and recieve feedback. After they test it for a few days, I will have a meeting with each one of them (5 editors) about how they use the tool, their feedback, possible bugs and errors to fix.

6. [TOPIC/ AREA OF EXPERTISE] What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change, as well as the main approaches to achieve it. (required)

As an active and experienced Wikipedia contributer, updating footballers' statistics is always challenging. I get lost between the infoboxes and statistics tables. As we can see in here (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wayne_Rooney&action=edit§ion=41), editing stats tables are so complicated. For the users with less experience, it's so easy to get lost in that section. One mistake causes errors in the whole table. This gadget makes editing that table easy with its user-friendly interface, and standardization of those sections.

In the same interface and gadget, editors can update that table and the data in infobox.

Less editing, less complicated and consistent data for the articles.

7. [HOW / ACTIVITIES] What are the planned activities? (required)
