Dans le cadre du projet « Wikidata et les Tirailleurs sénégalais , plusieurs activités ont été planifiées et exécutées avec succès : Nous avons entamé la mise en place d’un groupe de travail constitué des, Togolais, Camerounais et Congolais afin de mener à bien cette recherche. Ensuite, nous avons poursuivi les recherches dans les bibliothèques en ligne et les archives pour la collecte des données sur les tirailleurs sénégalais d’une manière générale. Puis nous avons formé ces bases dans un fichier excel constitué des noms des tirailleurs sénégalis ayant participé aux deux guerres. Nous avons organisé deux ateliers de transmission de connaissances. Le Premier atelier est une introduction à OpenRefine avec trois axes à savoir : la découverte et la préparation des données sur excel pour exporter sur Wikidata, le nettoyage et l’harmonisation des données et comment relier et téléverser efficacement des informations sur Wikidata. Le deuxième atelier est une suite du premier atelier , il était question de montrer aux participants comment ajouter une déclaration ou supprimer sur un élément Wikidata depuis OpenRefine. Nous avons obtenu comme résultat : Confer Dashboard

You can recall these learning questions below: 1. Découvrir la diversité et la disparité des tirailleurs sénégalais tombés au front lors des deux guerres mondiales. 2. Explorer les possibilités d’intégration des informations des tirailleurs sénégalais issues de diverses sources de données sur les projets Wikimédia en particulier Wikidata. 3. Permettre aux historiens de comprendre l'apport des noirs dans les deux guerres mondiales.
Ce travail nous a permis de faire une exploration dans les archives pour identifier les tirailleurs africains tombés au front lors des deux guerres mondiales; Il nous également permi de découvrir les outils avancés en matière de contribution sur Wikidata notamment l'utilisation de OpenRefine et Quickstament qui nous ont permi de combler les lacune en terme de contenu de ces héros africains sur Wikidata

Des événements inattendus ont marqué l’implémentation du projet. Après une mise à jour du site Mémoire des Hommes, qui constituait notre source principale de données sur les tirailleurs sénégalais, nous avons dû changer nos sources initiales pour notre base de données. Cela nous a conduits à apprendre à supprimer une partie d’un lien URL existant et à en joindre un nouveau pour effectuer les mises à jour nécessaires dans OpenRefine afin d’exporter sur Wikidata. Cette adaptation nous a enseigné la flexibilité face aux évolutions des plateformes d’archives numériques, renforçant nos compétences en gestion de liens et en réconciliation de données. Pour les futurs projets, nous prévoyons tester régulièrement leur stabilité des sources. Cette expérience positive a amélioré notre résilience et la qualité finale des données structurées. Au départ nous étions parti sur une de contribution à 500 sur Wikidata , nous somme allé à plus de 5000 contribution

Nous avons organisé une série d’ateliers qui a réuni les Wikimediens de plusieurs pays francophones, à savoir : le Sénégal, le Cameroun, le Togo, le Congo, le Burundi, etc...
