Lack of Representation & Digital Gap The Bidi bidi Refugee Settlement, home to over 200,000 refugees, has very few freely available media pieces showcasing its lively culture, the leadership roles of women and activities for youth. Global platforms like Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons miss out on stories and visuals from Bidi bidi leading to a skewed view of refugee communities. Women and girls in refugee settings often deal with obstacles when it comes to digital skills. With limited access to tech and training, their stories and daily lives don't get the attention they deserve online. While young people and men have a bit more access to mobile devices, many lack the training to create and share content with free licenses. This leads to a lack of information about their lives and creativity.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

[edit]
17. What do you hope to learn from your work in this project or proposal? (required)

Skill Building & Confidence. we hope to the participants to get better at using digital media and feel more confident. We hope to look at their self-assessments before and after the program and ask mentors about their skills in photography, audio, video and licensing. How many media files did the participants create and how good were they according to Wikimedia standards?. We shall count the uploads (aiming for at least 500), checked how many passed quality checks and looked at peer review ratings. Gender & Demographic Inclusion we hope to know, did women and girls (70%) and youth and men (30%) participate fairly? To check this we shall calculate the percentage of active contributors by gender and age, saw how many uploads each group made and looked at their retention rates. Long-Term Impact for Participants. we hope to know, whether participants used their new skills for making money or advocacy? To measure this: We shall need to conduct follow up interviews 3 to 6 months later to see if they had taken on freelance work, initiated community storytelling projects, or made more contributions to Wikimedia.
