This year contest theme is under the theme “ Rites and Rituals ”, and through it, we as a wikimedia user group are trying to document through photos, videos and Audios the different Rites and Rituals of Sudan.the food from its origin and the people behind our meals in our local community. Due to the wide spectrum of the rites and rituals theme, we chose to include the documentation of: Traditional and folklore speech and songs (Anthems): Traditional everyday objects Traditional adults and kids games and objects Traditional handmade crafts (for e.g, weaving – ghee production – traditional medicine and food preparation …etc) The fundamental challenge we are tackling though this project activities is contributing in filling the critical lack of visual and multimedia content about Sudan's diverse cultural heritage on Wikimedia Commons. This challenge is now compounded by the current conflict, which places our heritage at risk of physical destruction or permanent inaccessibility due to community displacement. The change we are striving to bring is the digital rescue and preservation of Sudanese heritage by mobilizing a resilient, decentralized community of multimedia creators.

The project activities will focus on reaching out Sudanese photographers as this opportunity will encourage them to show their creativity in documenting and reflecting Sudanese culture to the global community. The contest entries reflecting part of the content about Sudan will motivate more Sudanese Photographers to join the community of Sudan Wikimedia.
