6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The Iranian Wikimedians User Group faces big challenges, like the restriction on sending funds to Iran by the Wikimedia Foundation because of US sanctions, and the difficulty for Iranians to get visas for international Wikimedia events, with many applications being rejected. Also, some of the experienced members of our group live outside Iran, which makes it hard for them to travel there. These problems have caused a lack of experience and stopped knowledge transfer between generations within our community.

We plan to organize a workshop outside Iran to train trainers. These trainers will then teach other members in Iran and hold workshops and meetings in the country.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

We plan to have 5-8 members of our community and 2-3 experienced Wikimedians as lecturers. The main activities will include training sessions on Wikimedia governance, community engagement, collaboration, and workshops on Wikisource, Wikidata, and Commons. We will also hold strategic planning sessions focusing on community growth, increasing participation, and enhancing our impact on Wikimedia projects to develop a clear action plan with measurable goals. Additionally, there will be networking sessions to strengthen community ties and foster collaboration by discussing best practices and sharing experiences.

8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

The target participants for this workshop will be active members of the Iranian Wikimedians community, with a focus on individuals who are already contributing to Wikimedia projects or have the potential to become active contributors. We will also include experienced Wikimedians who have demonstrated leadership and expertise in Wikimedia governance, content creation, and community engagement. Participants will be selected through an open call on Persian Wikimedia projects and within our user group. A committee will review the applications and select participants based on their abilities and contributions.

We also want to assess the workshop's impact on community growth and participation and identify ways to improve future training sessions for better results.
