Since 2021 when we started the LGBTQ+ wiki inclusion campaign in Nigeria; there have been lot of productive efforts and success which has resulted in the creation of more than 500 unique LGBTQ articles and the training of over 100 queer persons. With the introduction of a one day training for transpersons In 2023 which achieved so much success ad hence the need to have a month dedicated for the visibility of transpersons In Nigeria and West Africa on the occasion of Trans awareness month
November is widely celebrated as the awareness month for transgenders (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_Awareness_Week) globally and so we will dedicate this month to conducting training for transpersons and edit-a-thon through contest ad campaigns for various persons to contribute to the tras awareness moth on the Wikimedia projects thereby bridging the knowledge gap on these topics
So this project will trai trans and intrsex persons across west Africa in collaboration with Transgender organizations in Nigeria which will happen during the global International Transgender Awareness Month (November); to train them on how to contribute to the Wikimedia projects through an in-person residential approach so they could improve more transgender topics that concern them as its easier for them to tell their stories rater from the perspective of a gay or lesbians.
