6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The change we aim to bring is the creation and improvement of accurate, up-to-date articles on current Members of Parliament (MPs) from Ghana’s 15th Parliament (2025–2029), particularly on Twi Wikipedia and, where needed, on English Wikipedia and build upon the groundwork established by the previously funded project https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Programs/Wikimedia_Community_Fund/Rapid_Fund/Twi_Wikipedia_for_the_8th_Parliament_of_the_4th_Republic_of_Ghana_(ID:_22104543) -- https://tw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:8th_Parliament_of_the_4th_Republic_of_Ghana

Although the Ghanaian general elections took place in December 2024, more than six months later, the majority of articles on newly elected MPs have not yet been created, especially on Twi Wikipedia, and several are incomplete or missing entirely from English Wikipedia. See: https://tw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwumadini:Lynorix/sandbox

This situation reflects a broader challenge: the Twi Wikipedia despite being in existence for years still lacks depth, visibility, and engagement. Most vital local topics, including information about elected leaders, remain underdeveloped. Moreover, the targeted regions for this project, specifically the Eastern and Greater Accra regions, have a significant number of dominant Twi speakers who are unaware of the existence of a local Wikipedia. This lack of awareness, combined with recent declines in editor activity and retention, further limits the platform's growth and impact.

This project focuses on regions with strong Twi-speaking populations and low awareness of Twi Wikipedia, and aim not only to improve local content coverage but also promote civic education.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

To achieve the goals of this project, we have outlined a series of key activities designed to improve both content development and community engagement, particularly among Twi-speaking contributors in the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions of Ghana.

The project will begin with two in-person training/edit-a-thon events—one in Accra and the other in Koforidua. These events are intended to introduce participants to Twi Wikipedia, build their editing capacity, and initiate the creation and improvement of articles about Members of Parliament in Ghana's 15th Parliament. Koforidua has been selected as a strategic location due to its diverse population and strong presence of Akuapem Twi speakers, while Accra serves as a central hub with a large base of potential contributors.

Following the training sessions, we will organize a one-month online editing contest focused on creating and improving articles about current MPs. This contest aims to sustain contributions beyond the in-person events and motivate both new and experienced editors to remain active. Participants will be supported throughout the contest via two virtual office hours sessions, where they can ask questions, receive feedback, and engage with trainers and experienced Wikimedians.

8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

He also spearheaded the Twi translatewiki.net event, which aimed to localize the Twi language. In this project, Robert will serve as an adviser in this project

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

The intended audience for this project includes current volunteers of the Twi Wikipedia, Twi speakers in the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions, as well as individuals who are fluent in the Twi language (both Asante and Akuapem) and are interested in contributing to the project. Communication will be facilitated through channels such as Whatsapp, Telegram, and social media platforms. To maintain engagement and participation following the implementation of the proposal, we plan to employ various strategies, including gathering contact information through feedback forms, offering optional mailing lists or social media groups, identifying and inviting the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable contributors to future events, and adding new members WhatsApp/Telegram group for discussions.
