1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

This project aims to celebrate Wikidata's 10th birthday and recruit and training new editors for Wikidata in the University of Ibadan.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

A day edit-a-thon session will be held in celebration of the birthday, this is where we will recruit, train and improve the skill's of new and existing wikidata editors. The second day of this event will be a party where we have editors coming together to celebrate Wikidata's 10th birthday.

Yes, I have a team to work together with on this project.

User: Ogundele1 (Project Lead) - As an experienced Wikimedian who has led several Wikipedia projects which include Wikipedia Photowalks, Wiki Loves Africa, and Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos among others will be leading this project.

User: Adefanike - Co-facilitator Event planner; experienced Wikimedian, member of Wikimedia Fan club, University of Ibadan. She co-facilitated Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos 2021 in the club. She has proved worthy in the role of planning and coordinating events in the club.

User: Abiolakintrunde - Logistics and communication, as the communication head for the club, he will be in charge of the communication and logistics for the project.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities?

This project is targeted at the Wikipedia editors, students, and staff of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.

The call for participation will be done through effective local communication channels where students belong via E-posters, and banners to promote the program on social media platforms. All Participants will be sent an online form to get their data and for registration.

During the project, I and my team member will be actively involved in facilitating the training and also making sure that the participants get the act and art of contributing to Wikidata.

Also, the project is set to have 2 physical events; an edit-a-thon and a party. Editors will be properly guided on how to contribute to Wikidata on the first day of the event.

To ensure the sustainability of the project, After the events, participants who are yet to join the club's social media groups will be added accordingly, this will keep them updated and encourage participation during other wiki events. Follow-up, updates, and questions will take place on these channels.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

We will adhere strictly to the Wikimedia friendly space policy during the event. The Wikimedia friendly space policy and UCoC will be distributed to participants before the event. The event premises will be safe and conducive. The General friendly space policy for Wikimedia events will be summarised and read at the beginning of the event to participants and the importance of the friendly space policy will be explained.

Wikimedia User Group Nigeria and Wikimedia Fan Club, University of Ibadan are duly informed of this project on their Meta pages and WhatsApp groups respectively for their suggestions and recommendations.
