6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

Health articles related to Nigeria is not a common theme for event organizers and this is why I led the Project, "Wiki And Health articles in Nigeria" which run for two months between April to June, 2024 with 50 articles created and 70 pictures uploaded on wikicommon.

You can see more about the project here: https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Programs/Wikimedia_Community_Fund/Rapid_Fund/Wiki_and_Health_articles_in_Nigeria_(ID:_22444962)/Final_Report https://www.linkedin.com/company/wiki-health-africa The success of the project was also published by Wikimedia Foundation on her social media pages, Facebook and Twitter https://twitter.com/Wikimedia/status/1810334603858641208?t=W7mfjGvY1FFFblO3Vs5jMA&s=19 https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1bK3EMmdDBEaxApF/?mibextid=oFDknk Building upon this success, I want to leverage on covering more health articles and training more participants as the last training was not sufficient enough to bridge the gap of health articles in Nigeria as the major focus was on minor editing and translation of articles, however this time around I want to engage the already retained editors on how to create notable articles around health in Nigeria. According to the article https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audiology_and_hearing_health_professionals_in_Nigeria Currently, there is a lack of information regarding audiological and hearing healthcare in Nigeria on Wikipedia, this will be part of the scope of our project.

The following articles are still missing on Wikipedia

1. Nigerian Optometric Association

2. Makkah Eye specialist hospital

3. Regions Stroke and Neuroscience Hospital, Mgbirichi, Imo State

4.UDUTH SOKOTO

5.Abia State University Teaching Hospital

Also, the following stubs related to health needs to be expanded

1. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_and_Health_Workers%27_Union_of_Nigeria

2. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Nigeria

3.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoking_in_Nigeria

4.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Ali_Pate In addition, data about health will be added on Wikidata, some of Wikidata items are missing objects and some do not exist at all. Some of the Wikidata items to be improved include : A. https://m.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Main_Page?searchToken=2l8zl2h69vhqucm22y4zne463 B. https://m.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7546098 C. https://m.wikidata.org/wiki/Q85789085 D. https://m.wikidata.org/wiki/Q28457120 Main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes:

1. Physical and Virtual Trainings: As an article for creation reviewer on English Wikipedia, I will train participants on how to identify and improve create notable articles . The participants would be trained on how to successfully contribute, while new editors will showcase their learning skills. However, the editing will be closely monitored as a new page reviewer to avoid vandalism. Weekly training will also be included in the project to review the quality of edits contributed during the project Also, Kamoranesi90 an active editor with several articles on English Wikipedia will join in the training of the editors.

2. Edit-a-thon: New editors will engage in basic editing skills like finding citations, copyediting and improving stubs under close monitoring while experienced editors will create new articles which will be reviewed before allowing them to open space. 3. WPWP: Pictures will be uploaded on pages on Wikipedia without images.

4. Feedback: Google forms would be created to generate feedback from the participants and their perception towards the Campaign in the form of a survey

These approaches are designed to cater for the specific needs of the community via the already established wiki health platform. To ensure progress and provide assistance, we will utilize the outreach dashboard. This tool will help us track contributions and offer one-on-one support to offline and online editors, further promoting engagement and fruitful participation.

The following resources will be used during the project :

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Nigeria

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Nigeria/Nigerian_sources https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout https://dashboard.wikiedu.org/training/professional-development/editing-medical-topics-professional.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Medicine-related_articles

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

The project will run for a month. Visibility of Health articles in Nigeria on English Wikipedia 2.0 will consist of six different sessions:

1. Two days of an in-person (physical) workshop: Since the training involves contribution to health articles in Nigeria with the targeted project being Wikipedia, participants need the right guidelines and training to avoid vandalism. There will be two-day in-person workshops aimed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of Wikipedia. During the training, the participants would be exposed to how to improve articles, add citations to related health article from the available links on WikiProject Nigeria of articles missing citations and articles with orphan https://bambots.brucemyers.com/cwb/bycat/Nigeria.html#Orphaned

https://bambots.brucemyers.com/cwb/bycat/Nigeria.html#Cites%20no%20sources

https://bambots.brucemyers.com/cwb/bycat/Nigeria.html#Reference%20errors

This would be done by three facilitators; myself as an active Wikipedia editor and a new page reviewer alongside two other editors who are active on English Wikipedia.

2. Two (2) series of online reinforcement training: To adequately provide the participants with the necessary knowledge and abilities for editing on Wikipedia. One online facilitator will use the online portions to polish the new editors' flaws and improve their editing abilities.

3. Edit-a-thon:. After the two days of in-person training and the two days of online instruction, there will be a two-week time for the participants to edit and put their newly acquired knowledge into practice.

4. Review and award presentation: After the edit-a-thon, three days will be used for the review session. The Edit-a-thon winners would be awarded with gift vouchers. The timeline of the project has been uploaded in Question 7 above.
