Part 1: Project and impact

Physical and Virtual Trainings: The participants were trained to identify and create notable and qualitative articles. The participants were trained on how to successfully contribute to them, new editors took up the task to keep them occupied and showcase their learning skills. the editing was closely monitored to avoid vandalism. Weekly training was also be included in the project to review the quality of edits contributed during the project
Edit-a-thon: To prevent vandalism and tampering with articles, only experienced editors were allowed to create new articles and this will be under close monitoring.
The result achieved was that 70 articles were created on English Wikipedia, 150 images were uploaded on wikicommons and 60 wikidata items were created. The most effective approach was training the participants and following up weekly to check their progress

Did the project train new and existing editors? Yes, 50 existing editors from previous project and 70 new editors were trained
Did the project close the knowledge gap by improving the visibility of health Professionals in Nigeria on Wikipedia? Yes, 20 articles were created for Nigerian surgeons, nurses and pharamacy
Did the project close gender gaps relating to health articles in Nigeria? Yes, articles such as Maternity in Nigeria, Childbirth in Nigeria were created during the project.
Did the project improve articles in Nigeria? Yes, a total of 70 new articles were created and 30 existing articles were edited during the project.
I hope to use the outcome of this learnings to execute a more inclusive projects related to health articles in Africa.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
Yes, During the project, some health issues happened bin Nigeria like the Heat wave and Outbreak of diphtheria. While these topics were not in our red links, the team members decided to add them to the list of articles to be created and some editors eventually created them.
Also, I had challenge fixing the first physical session at first, as the medical students at University of College of Health Ibadan, our targets participants were on holiday break. we were able to resolve this with the help of a senator, who was also an executive of wiki fan club University of Ibadan representing the main hostel, who utilized his position to reach medical students within the hostel and those who say within Ibadan, this method helped us get participants beyond the required numbers we had in mind.
These experiences taught me the importance of proactive thinking and the usefulness of networking with other wikimedia editors in Nigeria outside my niche as a doctor.
