The Wikimedians of the Islamic Civilisation (WIC) user group aims to evolve from a young, Arabic-focused initiative into a robust, multilingual community. Our goal is to bridge the "knowledge gap" by digitizing Islamic heritage and modernizing how it is organized across the Wikimedia ecosystem.
The Challenges Infrastructure Gaps: Our rapid growth has outpaced our current financial and logistical support. Sister Project Underutilization: Valuable content on Wikisource, Wikidata, and Commons remains underdeveloped compared to Wikipedia. Language Barriers: Much of our impact is currently limited to Arabic, leaving English and Urdu audiences underserved.
The Solution & Strategy We will drive this change through a three-pronged approach: Technical Modernization: Updating Wikimedia Commons templates with Structured Data from Wikidata to improve global searchability. Digital Preservation: Increasing contributions to Wikisource by digitizing and proofreading historical books and manuscripts. Multilingual Expansion: Hosting targeted workshops to recruit and train editors in English, Urdu, and other languages, converting passive readers into active contributors. By securing the necessary financial support, we will empower our community to shrink content gaps and build a sustainable, professional home for Islamic digital heritage.

The project team consists of experienced Wikimedia contributors and community members:
Project Manager: User:SanBonne – an Arabic Wikipedia administrator and project coordinator, with experience in volunteer management including involvement in Wikimania. Wikidata Trainer: An experienced contributor responsible for delivering training sessions and supporting participants in Wikidata-related activities. Interpreter: Provides interpretation during international meeting to ensure smooth communication. Jury Members: Selected from experienced community members with relevant expertise to evaluate contributions and ensure quality.
All team members are aware of their roles and involvement in the project and are active within the Wikimedia and Arabic community.

The goal of this proposal is to gain new and effective strategies to address larger communities who are interested in the Islamic civilization culture and to learn more about partnerships and gain new ones to improve community resources. Plus to that, I am looking to enlarge and strengthen the usergroup to go again throught official recognition and closing the gaps in the Content and in the group missing points.
