Wiki4Inclusion Campaign in Tanzania aims at bridging the gap of including people with disability in a digital space and increasing Swahili language contents to Wikimedia projects relating to people with hearing impairment. The project in Phase 1 & 2 [1] has impacted the underserved communities of people with hearing impairments and sign language interpreters by enrolling approximately 140 people into the Movement and training them on how to contribute to the targeted Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and Swahili Wikiquote (Incubator)) through edit-a-thons organized in Dar es salaam and Arusha. In Phase 3, we are planning to extend our scope including reaching out to our targeted group in another region of Tanzania (Tabora) and bringing in new methodologies and best practices for impactful results. Also, we will focus more on two Wikimedia projects (Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons) that showed to be worked on more smoothly by our participants while gradually teaching them on how to contribute on other projects. Moreover, we will organize Training of Trainers sessions for special needs teachers (deaf people and interpreters) and university students to be our ambassadors and trainers at their academic institutions to cope with some challenges (such as immediate school timetable changes, long period power off just before or during the session) we were facing in previous phases to reach our targeted participants, for instance club members. Also, this will reduce some trips and expenses for our project trainers hence they will be available always at their working stations. In increasing engagement in a project such as Wikidata, we intend to train on how to use Mobile to contribute on Wikidata after finding out that most of the participants are left behind after the session due to lack of computer devices. For Wikimedia Commons, we are planning to run inclusive sessions training them on how to contribute quality media on Commons and enroll them to a newly and first dedicated photographic community known as WikiPhotographers Tanzania [2]. Tanzania has currently being facing low media contribution especially in Wiki Loves photo contests comparing to other countries. Engaging the underserved community will be a great step toward bridging the gap. We expect Phase 3 to be revolutionary after a keen evaluation of Phase 1 & 2.

We are planning to conduct the following activities: 1. Organizing training workshops and edit-a-thons: Two (2) training sessions and edit-a-thons in Arusha, Two (2) training sessions and edit-a-thons in Dar es salaam and One (1) training session and edit-a-thon in Tabora. In Arusha we will train Patandi Teachers college students - a group of deaf and sign language interpreters and organize a ToTs for special school teachers including Patandi Maalum Secondary School teachers and university students of St.Augustine University (Tabora) pursuing Bachelor of Education with Special Needs course who will represent us as project ambassadors and trainers for our target group at their institutions. Also, ToTs will include some stakeholders from NGOs dealing with disability especially hearing impairments and sign language interpreters. In Dar es salaam, we will train our DarGroup members which consist of University of Dar es salaam Sign Language Club members and other members and non - members from deaf people and sign language associations. 2. 1. User: Rwebogora - Project Lead, Coordinator and Trainer - A social scientist by professional and an experienced Wikimedian who joined the movement in 2019 contributing to Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and other sister projects, having experience in editing, training, organizing, facilitating, mentoring and photographing. He has participated in different Wiki projects and contests (local and international) such Wiki Loves Africa, Isa Tool Campaign, WPWP, SheSaid Tanzania, Afrocuration Project in Tanzania, Africa Wiki Challenge, African Women on Wikipedia and WikiForHumanRights just to mention a few. In 2024, he was mentioned as the first Tanzanian to reach 100,000 (100K) edits on Wikimedia projects [3].

2. User: Anuary Rajabu - Facilitator - An experienced Wikimedian, Swahili Wikipedia admin and a founder of Wikimedians of Tabora.

3. User: EdwardJacob42 [4] - Organizer and Facilitor (Arusha) - an experienced Wikimedian trainer, facilitator and organizer from Arusha region whom we worked with in Phase 1 and 2 making sure our activities at Patandi Maalum Sec. School were well organized and facilitated in assistance with other Wikimedians from the region such as user: Idd Ninga [5] and user: Ester Eddyngton Koka [6].

4. Beatrice Chiluka - Sign Language Interpreter - An experienced sign language interpreter and a Deputy General Secretary of Tanzania Sign Language Interpreters Association. Chiluka is an active team member in sign language interpretation who worked with us in Phase 1 & 2. Example of her work:[7]

5. Meshack Chishomi – an experienced sign language interpreter and a teacher by professional from Tanzania Sign Language Interpreters Association. He played a big role in session interpretation and video creation for Wikimedia Commons in our previous phases. For instance, [8]

6. User: Mariam Magembe - a sign language interpreter and student of St. Augustine University of Tanzania (Tabora) pursuing her Bachelor of Education with Special Needs who will be helping us with coordination of activities at the institution.

Our target participants are hearing impaired people, sign language interpreters (teachers and students from special schools and universities). We will train teachers and students from special schools and universities on how to contribute to our focused projects and how they will teach students at their academic institutions. We expect to train teachers and students of Patandi Maalum Secondary School, Patandi Maalum Teachers College, St. Augustine University of Tanzania (Tanzania) - Archbishop Mihayo University College of Tabora (AMUCTA). Also, we will organize edit-a-thons for Wiki4Inclusion DarGroup, a group which consists of university students sign language interpreters from The Open University of Tanzania [9], University of Dar es es salaam Sign language Club, The Tanzania Association of the Deaf (TAD) and Association of Interpreters (CHAWALATA) [10].

I discussed having Phase 3 with fellow community and team members including students of St. Augustine University of Tanzania (Tabora) [11] whom we met during @25 Wikipedia birthday event [12], [13] in Tabora and virtually communicated with the head of Patandi Maalum Teachers College in Arusha, Dunia Salama Foundation and YouthTech (Tanzania) stakeholders we count on collaboration.
