Part 1: Project and impact

1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)

One online and two physical trainings were carried out during which the available list of articles was shared with the participants and they translated them all into Fulfulde language on Fulfulde Wikipedia. Another lists were given continually through the campaign's group which the participants are engaged leading to a huge success of translating more than six hundred (600) new articles related to the environment including; protection of the environment and reduction of pollution, environmental activists among other topics. The project has helped in the building of the knowledge of local participants on how to contribute human rights and environment contents to Wikimedia projects in local language. There was also a campaign and a writing contest which engaged new and old contributors to translate human rights and environment content on English Wikipedia to Fulfulde language, as well as add the Fulfulde names for Nigerian plant and animal species on Wikidata. This also has enriched the Fulfulde language on Wikidata with over five hundred (5,000) lexemes added. The overall impact or the results achieved can be find below under metrics.

  1. Ans: The project help Fulfulde Wikipedia grow by enriching its contents. More than 600 new articles were created and over 2000 articles were improved.
  2. Ans: before this project, the few articles related to environment and human rights were stubs, our project put efforts in expanding over 2000 articles this impacted our efforts for enhancing the quality of the articles.
  3. Ans: through this project we help the participants acquire expertise skills which helped them in making impactful contributions.
  4. Ans: The campaign we did helped spread awareness about environmental rights within our community also the articles selected to work have added more knowledge to the participants regarding environmental rights.

We faced problem with the dashboard weeks after the training. Initially the dashboard worked fine for a few days but it later stopped working for weeks that made me concerned thinking that there may be something wrong with the inputs we made but we double checked and found nothing is wrong. I then write a complain to the technical team here. After like three weeks the dashboard updated the data but we still couldn't get many of the trained participants enrolled. This was the difficulties/challenges we faced.
