4. Where will this proposal be implemented? (required)

Serbia

5. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign, project, or event? If so, please select the relevant project or campaign. (required)

Other (please specify) It aligns with the broader goals of Wikimedia’s Knowledge Equity and Education and Outreach initiatives by empowering students, educators, and professionals in psychology to contribute reliable, locally relevant information on mental health to Wikipedia and Wikidata.

6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The WikiMind project aims to bridge a significant knowledge gap on mental health topics in the Serbian Wikipedia and Wikidata. Currently, much of the existing content related to psychology and mental health is incomplete, outdated, or lacks references to reliable sources. At the same time, public interest in mental health has grown rapidly, especially among young people, educators, and professionals seeking accessible and evidence-based information in their own language. The main change we aim to bring is the creation of a comprehensive, high-quality body of open knowledge on mental health, accessible to everyone in Serbia and the wider region. To achieve this, the project will combine educational and content-creation approaches: organizing a series of Wikipedia and Wikidata workshops for psychology students, educators, and volunteers; providing mentorship from experienced Wikimedia editors; and ensuring that all new and improved articles are based on verified academic and clinical sources. In the long term, WikiMind will contribute to reducing misinformation, improving mental health literacy, and strengthening the collaboration between academia, civil society, and the Wikimedia community. This will help make Wikipedia a trusted and inclusive platform for public education on mental health.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

The WikiMind project will be implemented over a 10-month period (January 20 – December 1, 2026) through a series of educational, content-creation, and outreach activities focused on improving public knowledge about mental health on the Serbian Wikipedia and Wikidata. 1. Project preparation and coordination (January – February 2026)

– Formation of the project team within NGO Eurinoma (project coordinator, communications officer, Wikimedia mentor).
– Consultation and alignment with Wikimedia Serbia to ensure consistency with Wikimedia standards for training, event facilitation, and impact measurement.
– Development of educational materials and outreach plans for universities, professional associations, and mental-health NGOs.

2. Educational workshops and capacity building (March – May 2026)

– Organization of 4 interactive workshops for psychology students, educators, and volunteers introducing Wikipedia and Wikidata editing skills.
– Training participants to identify and use reliable academic and clinical sources, and to apply Wikimedia content policies (neutrality, verifiability, licensing).
– Continuous mentorship from Wikimedia Serbia’s experienced editors to ensure high-quality contributions.

3. Content creation and community engagement (June – September 2026)

– Hosting 2 edit-a-thons focused on creating and expanding articles on mental-health topics in Serbian Wikipedia, and adding corresponding entries to Wikidata.
– Encouraging inclusive coverage of topics such as women psychologists, underrepresented mental-health fields, and culturally specific issues.
– Peer review of new content by experienced editors and subject-matter experts to ensure accuracy and reliability.

4. Outreach and regional collaboration (October 2026)

– Disseminating project results through social-media campaigns, newsletters, and partner university channels.
– Organizing one regional online session with Wikimedia communities from neighboring countries (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia) to share outcomes and explore future cooperation.

5. Evaluation and reporting (November – December 1, 2026)

– Collecting and analyzing project metrics (new and improved articles, Wikidata entries, number of participants, article views).
– Conducting feedback surveys to assess participant learning and community impact.
– Preparing and publishing the final project report on Meta-Wiki, ensuring transparency and open access to all outcomes and materials.

Partners and professional networks:

– Wikimedia Serbia – providing mentorship, community connection, and guidance on Wikimedia standards and outreach.
– Professional associations and networks – members of Eurinoma are also active in several organizations bringing together psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists, including the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA), Serbian Association of Psychotherapists (SPS), and TAUS – Transactional Analysis Association of Serbia. These networks will support outreach, content validation, and professional dissemination of project outcomes.
– Academic and civil-society partners – collaboration with psychology departments and mental-health NGOs for participant recruitment and dissemination.

All project updates, materials, and final results will be published on the WikiMind Meta-Wiki page, ensuring openness and reproducibility for future regional initiatives.

8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities? (required)

The WikiMind project primarily targets participants from the Serbian Wikimedia community and the academic and professional fields of psychology and mental health. The core participant groups include:

– Psychology students from universities in Serbia who are interested in learning about open knowledge and contributing reliable, evidence-based information to Wikipedia and Wikidata.
– Educators and researchers from psychology and related disciplines who can help ensure the academic accuracy of newly created content.
– Practicing psychotherapists, counselors, and mental health professionals — members of Eurinoma and professional associations such as ITAA, TAUS, and the Serbian Association of Psychotherapists — who will contribute domain expertise and help promote the use of open knowledge resources.
– Active Wikimedia community members and volunteers from Serbia who will mentor new contributors and support quality control during the project.

Engagement before the activities:

– Participant recruitment will be carried out through Eurinoma’s professional networks, university mailing lists, Wikimedia Serbia’s communication channels, and social media announcements.
– Introductory online sessions will be held in early March 2026 to present the project’s goals, introduce Wikimedia editing basics, and invite interested participants to register for workshops.
– Collaboration with student organizations and mental health NGOs will help reach motivated participants from diverse backgrounds.

Engagement during the activities:

– Each workshop and edit-a-thon will use a highly interactive format: hands-on editing exercises, small-group mentorship, and real-time feedback from Wikimedia editors and psychology experts.
– Participants will be encouraged to select topics aligned with their personal or professional interests, increasing intrinsic motivation and ownership of the learning process.
– Dedicated mentors (both from Wikimedia Serbia and the WikiMind team) will support participants throughout the editing process, ensuring continuity and confidence in contributions.

Follow-up after the activities:

– Participants will be invited to join a newly formed WikiMind Network — a mailing list and online community for continued collaboration, sharing new article ideas, and mentoring newcomers.
– A follow-up online meeting will be held one month after the final edit-a-thon to review progress, highlight achievements, and discuss next steps for sustaining the project’s outcomes.
– Participants who remain active editors will be encouraged to apply for future Wikimedia events (e.g., EduWiki or CEE Meeting) to further develop their skills and present the project’s results.

Through this multi-layered engagement plan, WikiMind will not only train new contributors but also integrate them into the existing Wikimedia ecosystem, fostering long-term growth of the community around mental health topics in Serbia and the region.

11. How did you discuss the idea of your project with your community members and/or any relevant groups? Please describe steps taken and provide links to any on-wiki community discussion(s) about the proposal. (required) You need to inform the community and/or group, discuss the project with them, and involve them in planning this proposal. You also need to align the activities with other projects happening in the planned area of implementation to ensure collaboration within the community.

The WikiMind project was developed in close consultation with Wikimedia Serbia and members of the academic and professional community in the fields of psychology and mental health. Between August and October 2025, representatives of Eurinoma met with the program team of Wikimedia Serbia to present the concept, gather feedback, and align the project’s activities with existing educational and outreach initiatives implemented by Wikimedia Serbia. This ensured that WikiMind complements, rather than duplicates, ongoing projects in the local Wikimedia ecosystem—particularly those related to education, GLAM, and community capacity building. In addition, members of Eurinoma discussed the project idea with representatives of psychology faculties, student associations, and professional organizations such as the Serbian Association of Psychotherapists (SPS) and TAUS – Transactional Analysis Association of Serbia. These discussions confirmed the relevance of the topic and helped shape the approach to involving psychology students, educators, and practitioners as contributors to open knowledge platforms. Although no formal on-wiki discussion has been held yet, the project team will publish the proposal and activity updates on Meta-Wiki prior to implementation, ensuring transparency and opportunities for feedback from the Wikimedia community. All activities and outcomes will be shared publicly through Wikimedia Serbia’s communication channels, including mailing lists, social media, and the community newsletter, to encourage further collaboration and cross-project alignment within the Wikimedia ecosystem.

Learning and metrics

[edit]
17. What do you hope to learn from your work in this project or proposal? (required)

Through the WikiMind project, we aim not only to create and improve content on mental health, but also to better understand how educational and professional communities can meaningfully engage with Wikimedia projects. Our main learning questions are: 1. How can students and professionals in psychology and mental health be effectively trained and motivated to contribute to Wikipedia and Wikidata?

– We want to explore which training formats, mentoring methods, and motivational strategies lead to sustained participation after workshops.

2. What are the most effective ways to ensure the quality and reliability of mental health–related content on Wikipedia in the Serbian language?

– We will analyze how combining academic sources, mentorship from experienced editors, and peer review influences content accuracy and readability.

3. How does collaboration between Wikimedia volunteers and professional associations (e.g., psychotherapists, educators, NGOs) enhance knowledge equity and community growth?

– We seek to understand how interdisciplinary partnerships can support Wikimedia’s mission and attract new contributors.

4. What models of follow-up engagement (e.g., the WikiMind Network) are most effective in maintaining long-term motivation among new editors?

– We will use participant feedback and post-project activity tracking to identify sustainable community-building practices.

The insights gained from these questions will help improve future Wikimedia education and outreach projects in Serbia and the wider region, especially those aiming to connect professional expertise with open knowledge creation.

The WikiMind project will use a combination of Wikimedia-approved tracking tools and standard evaluation methods to monitor participation, editing activity, and content impact.

1. Programs & Events Dashboard – to register participants and automatically track the number of editors, edits, newly created or improved articles, and total bytes added. This tool will provide real-time data for metrics 18.1–18.4.

2. Wikidata Query Service – to verify and measure the number of new or improved data entries related to mental health topics.

3. Meta-Wiki project page – to document activities, share updates, and provide transparent reporting of progress and results to the community.

4. Participant feedback forms (Google Forms) – to collect qualitative and quantitative feedback on learning outcomes, satisfaction, and suggestions for improvement after each workshop or edit-a-thon.

5. Social media and outreach analytics – to track engagement and reach of promotional activities (non-core metric but useful for understanding audience participation).

6. Internal tracking sheet (Google Sheets) – for logistical and attendance tracking, including participant demographics (new vs. returning contributors) and follow-up engagement in the WikiMind Network.
