Through this contest, we aim to enhance Arabic technical content on the Wikipedia platform, contributing to bridging the knowledge gap in this field. The main challenges include the lack of specialized Arabic content, the low contributions from technical experts, and the need to raise awareness about the importance of participating in enriching Arabic content. To achieve this change, we will rely on organizing the contest to attract contributors, providing a guide that clearly explains the contest rules, methods, and steps for participation, offering support to participants throughout the contest, and responding to their inquiries. Additionally, symbolic motivational prizes will be offered to outstanding participants to encourage them to continue contributing voluntarily.

Planning Phase
  • Determine the contest objectives, formulate its topics, and criteria for evaluating entries, and prepare the contest program that includes registration dates, submission of entries, and announcement of results.
  • Compile lists of short articles to improvement based on the most viewed pages, as well as custom articles to create based on the most viewed pages in English Wikipedia.
  • Selecting a judging panel of experienced Wikipedia editors to evaluate the submissions.
Technical and Logistical Setup
This phase involves creating a dedicated page for the contest on Wikipedia to explain the rules and instructions, as well as a participant registration page and article lists. Necessary tools and resources, such as templates and guidance pages, will be provided to support participants during the contest.
Promotion and Outreach
Designing advertisements for social media, creating logos and images for the contest, publishing promotional ads on social media platforms, and contacting users on discussion pages and through Telegram channels.
Contest Management

The target participants are users contributing to Arabic Wikipedia in general, with a particular focus on those interested in the technical field.

We will promote the contest through marketing campaigns on social media and dedicated announcements on Arabic Wikipedia. Interested participants will be required to fill out a registration form to collect essential information, ensuring effective communication throughout the contest.

During the contest , we will continue to support participants through campaign events, providing them with necessary guidelines and answering their questions to maintain their engagement. We will also encourage them to continue contributing to Wikimedia projects even after the contest ends.

After the contest, participants will be asked to complete a feedback form to evaluate the event and gather their opinions and suggestions.

I began discussing the idea with community members in Yemen through in-person meetings and the broader Arab community via the Telegram group. We then moved the discussion to the "Technology" section of the Arabic Wikipedia. We received support and encouragement from community members.

I hope to learn how to organize successful events that enhance Arabic technical content, as well as to develop communication and coordination skills with various stakeholders. Additionally, I look forward to gaining a better understanding of the needs of the Arabic technical community and how to motivate them to actively contribute to enriching knowledge content.
