Part 1 Understanding your work[edit]

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

We started this campaign with online and offline promotions reaching out to both amateur and professional photographers in the areas of our focus while introducing Wikimedia Commons to them and the WLA contest. On getting the reasonable number of people we then organize a training workshop. Here we get mostly our community members who attend, there we trained them on how to contribute/participate. That was the day we officially launched the local contest although there has been an online introduction to the contest with the participants before that time. We then grouped ourselves, each group having one of the 5 organizers as their team lead and begin the photo walks. We then trained and helped engaged some of the most experience editors from our community in attending WLA office hours and similar workshops organized by other communities which help them understand the concept of uploading the entries better and then use the community's router for the upload sessions but some were reimbursed to upload on their convinient time because they are from a bit distant place and the city was at a curfew during the time because of the preceeded general election.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Yes, we believe hiring a bus to carry all the participants for the photowalks to visit some unique, interesting places together like the Gooya Mountains in the ancient town of Gooya, Drought areas of Karasuwa and, Biu Mountains and the Yobe River among others have left them really happy and impressed and that was to our understanding the reason behind their motives in doing the well great job of providing those amazing photographs of diverse perspectives and covering many different places. Another approach we considered important was the fact that we tried to share the working materials with the ones among us that have a less or have faulty with some of the equipment they use; the cameras, tripods, batteries, lenses and even the smartphones.

3. Please use this space to upload media and other files that help tell your story and impact.

Part 2: Your main learning[edit]

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

We realized that with proper guidance and involvement, our community members would always do all it takes to make themselves devoted to a course of action like the Wiki Loves Africa and did amazingly well.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

No, everything go as planned albeit the general elections has prevented some members from getting the chance to be active in the project.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

We would stick to this and continue brainstorming for more and more effective approaches.

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
